Swiggy has temporarily suspended its hyperlocal delivery service Genie across several cities, as per recent reports.
Current scenario with 'Genie'
The pickup-and-drop service that was available in 70 cities is now unavailable on the Swiggy app in most locations. For others, the app is redirecting users to a 'temporarily unavailable' message.
It is unavailable in Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, Mumbai and Pune at the moment.
However, the company did not make any official statement about suspending the services of Genie.

Genie responds to user complaints
Responding to user complaints on X, formerly Twitter, Swiggy said the Genie service has been suspended due to “operational constraints”.
Though Swiggy did not specify a definite timeline for Genie's return yet, it shared that the team is working to get the service back up and running.
Incidentally, it is not the first time the company has taken Genie offline.
In 2022, Swiggy Genie service was paused in Bengaluru, Mumbai and Hyderabad, citing the rise in demand for its food delivery service and quick commerce arm Instamart.
This comes days after Swiggy expanded its quick-service food delivery platform, Bolt, to 500 cities, including Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
Zomato's parent, Eternal, has also recently closed its 15-minute food delivery service, Quick and its homely meals segment, Everyday, as both services failed to receive enough demand, as shared by CEO Deepinder Goyal in a letter to shareholders while announcing the financial results for the January-March quarter.
Sriharsha Majety’s company is expected to report its annual and fourth-quarter results on Friday, May 9. Launched in 2020, Swiggy Genie was scaled to multiple cities. It competes with players like Porter, Rapido Parcel, and Borzo, among others.
