India’s leading food delivery company, Swiggy, has introduced a new savings feature called Maxxsaver on its quick commerce platform Instamart to offer automatic discounts on purchases of ₹999 or more.

Swiggy's in-app feature 'Maxxsaver'

The feature has been rolled out to make everyday shopping more affordable and rewarding, the company said.

Swiggy has come with this feature only a few months after rival Zepto launched its version of a high-value savings tool called Super Saver.

However, unlike Zepto’s opt-in feature, Swiggy Maxxsaver is embedded directly into the main app and is automatically applied at checkout when the cart value threshold is met.

Swiggy Instamart currently stores over 35,000 items from groceries and daily essentials to electronics, smartphones, fashion, makeup, toys, etc.

To capture a major share in the quick commerce space, each platform is updating itself.

Flipkart Minutes is using the strategy of aggressive discounting to capture market share.

Some platforms are working to incentivise bulk purchases, shifting their positioning from being top-up solutions to more holistic grocery and essentials platforms.

Only Blinkit has not yet started offering major discounts or a loyalty program such as Zepto Pass or Swiggy One. It continues to charge delivery fees on every order, which vary by location and distance.

Instamart is the first quick commerce platform to expand to 100 cities, and the new Maxxsaver feature will be accessible in all of them.

“With Maxxsaver, we enhance our promise to make Swiggy Instamart the most affordable and convenient quick-commerce destination,” said Amitesh Jha, CEO of Swiggy Instamart. “By passing on the benefits of larger orders, we’re able to offer better pricing to our users.”

The company's shares climbed 3.51 per cent to a day's high of ₹345 apiece on Wednesday after launching the in-app feature 'Maxxsaver'.
