Recently serial entrepreneur and business builder Rajesh Sawhney posted a picture of a Zomato delivery partner and tweeted on the X platform, “100% Green Deliveries” on “Petrol Bikes” delivering “trekhe meethe golpaggpe” ??

Rajesh Sawhney bashes Zomato
Sawhney criticized Zomato pointing out the company was doing “100% Green Deliveries” on “Petrol Bikes.” He said there was nothing “Green” in the picture he shared.
Cautioning about an alarming increase in air pollution and reminding corporate responsibility, he wrote, “Companies like Zomato should not make false claims just to sound cool.”

Goyal responds
In response to Sawhney’s post, Zomato CEO Deepinder Goyal explained that they offset more than 100% of the carbon that their delivery fleet generates. He added that his company has been doing this for years while taking the required steps to reach its promise of Net Zero by 2030.
“Also, we recycle more than 100% of the plastic used for food deliveries,” Goyal claimed. “At the same time, we are making significant progress on cutting down the usage of plastic being used for food packaging.”
Goyal concluded by saying public companies like Zomato cannot lie as “enough public institutions” are monitoring their operations.
We offset more than 100% of the carbon our delivery fleet generates. We have been doing this for the last few years, while taking the required steps to reach our promise of Net Zero by 2030.

Notably, Zomato has been getting entangled in controversies lately. From the “fake paneer” controversy to a raid in one of its Hyderabad-based warehouses revealing future packaging dates, the restaurant aggregator cum food delivery company is sparking social media conversations for all the wrong reasons.
Incidentally, the Zomato CEO appeared on The Great Indian Kapil Show along with his wife where he was asked why his company keeps sending “flirty” texts to customers.
