At the Mumbai Tech Week on Friday, Akash Ambani announced that Jio Platforms is building a cloud-based AI personal computer compatible with any device to enable affordable, computer-intensive AI applications.
Jio Platforms’ New Cloud-Based AI PC
Jio Platforms, the telecom and digital arm of Reliance Industries, is developing a cloud-based AI personal computer that works with any consumer screen and enables users to create computationally demanding AI applications, according to Reliance Jio Infocomm Chairman Aakash Ambani.
He added that “companies which do not embrace AI and reimagine their functions will have a 'bleak’ future." Akash also believes that AI will change jobs in the future, but it won’t replace them.
"We have a consumer application, which we will be shortly launching. It's a cloud PC, which is a complete PC in the cloud, which is accessible in each of your houses but really be device agnostic. No hardware. You can build high-computing AI applications on top of that. And what you can leverage is the reach that Jio has," said Akash Ambani at the Mumbai Tech Week.
While calling AI the biggest technology revolution that we have seen in our lifetime, he also added that, “In my view, it is the engine that will empower India to grow at 10% or double-digit growth numbers for the foreseeable future.”
Akash also explained that Jio Platforms' strategy is enabling its products to expand to millions of people in India at an affordable price.

Jio Brain, another product by Jio Platforms, provides ML-as-a-service for businesses and enables users to create AI applications without the need for expensive infrastructure. "You can just tag on to JioBrain, and we'll launch that in the coming quarters as we perfect the use cases for that,” added Akash.
JioTele OS, a state-of-the-art smart TV operating system created to cater to the unique requirements of Indian viewers and support the 35 million connected TV households in the nation, was introduced earlier last month.
By offering an affordable, high-end, and content-rich smart TV platform, the operating system seeks to transform Indian homes. They intended to reach 100 million households in the shortest time possible.
While articulating the growth trajectory Relaince Jio is set on, Akash Ambani stated that Jio aims to build a platform that can sustain their projected growth, keeping in mind the India entrepreneurship & tech hub.
"One of our biggest growth missions of Jio and where we want to make an impact is connecting each home. But with that, we'll be opening ourselves up as a platform for developers to come on the platform, have access to these homes, reach all of those consumers, and then deploy India-first solutions,” added Akash Ambani.
