Reliance Jio launches JioTele OS
Reliance Jio launches JioTele OS, a cutting-edge smart TV operating system designed to meet the specific needs of Indian audiences and serve the country's 35 million connected TV households. The operating system aims to revolutionise Indian homes by providing a cost-effective, high-end, and content-rich smart TV platform.
According to the details shared by Jio, it will meet the rising demand for smart TVs and allow TV OEMs to provide their products at affordable prices. The AI-powered TVs provide personalised content recommendations so that viewers spend less time searching for the perfect content and more time enjoying the experience.
Experience lag-free 4K streaming for a better viewing experience with access to a huge library of content, including TV channels, cloud games, and your favourite OTT apps on the JioTele OS effortlessly with a single remote. It also provides ‘seamless integration’ of regional and global content on the Smart TV Operating System.
‘With approximately 35 million connected TV households in India, the demand for digital entertainment continues to rise. However, many consumers encounter challenges due to the limited capabilities of their connected TVs, such as restricted customisation, limited access to high-quality regional content, and the absence of a seamless, premium user experience. JioTele OS caters to the needs of Indian consumers.” - Jio said in its press release.
Jio termed it a "next-generation platform" and said it was designed to meet the demands of Indian customers while redefining the entertainment experience. To expand the compatibility of new apps and video formats, the company will provide regular software upgrades for its smart TV operating system. Security patches that increase the security of smart TVs using the new OS are also anticipated to be included in these upgrades.

According to Jio, other models should be available in the upcoming months, and the company is collaborating with other OEMs to offer support for JioTele OS.
At the 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) in August 2024, the company also launched the Jio TvOS operating system for the Jio Set-Top Box. It included home entertainment features like Ultra HD 4K video, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos.
This initiative by Reliance Jio seeks to transform the entertainment experience in India, ensuring seamless and accessible viewing for every household.
