Harsha Sunkara and Vijay K. Reddy founded Watalog in 2024 in Hyderabad to introduce pH-balanced water that speaks the language of care. Firstly, its pH-balanced composition harmonises with the body's natural pH, promoting optimal hydration and overall well-being.

“I was working in the US, and Vijay was working based in India,” Harsha shared with Startup Pedia. “Despite being in different time zones, we’d connect over daily calls, brainstorming startup ideas and exploring different sectors every week,” he added.

Reason behind founding Watalog
Watalog wasn’t built to be loud, as claimed by the founders. It was built to be felt. Its name combines Water and Catalogue, a quiet archive of nudges and gestures.
“The brand’s heart lies in emotional intelligence,” Harsha remarked to Startup Pedia. It exists for moments when you care deeply, but can’t find the words. While most people care about what they drink or the bottle it comes in, very few pause to ask: How are we drinking water?” he shared.
The entrepreneur further shared how, after feeling stressed, water becomes the silent comfort, calming, grounding, and healing.
“We drink it between tears, after laughter, during a pause,” Harsha said. “It’s the quiet hero behind every emotion. That’s what Watalog stands for—a subtle yet powerful presence in your life’s most human moments.”
The intention behind it is to nurture emotional wellness while also nurturing the planet.

How it started
“Together, we realised there was a growing shift in India toward conscious living,” the young entrepreneur shared with Startup Pedia. “People are becoming more aware of what they consume and how it affects them and the planet. That insight sparked the idea to build something impactful in India that aligns with this evolving lifestyle. And that’s how it all began,” he added.

Plastic vs glass bottles used in packaged drinking water
Watalog was soft-launched in October 2024. They used the strategy that when a customer returned the glass bottle to the shop, they got Rs. 30. In about six months, they collected a record number of 1,80,000 pre-used bottles from customers.
With this hugely successful soft launch, the company realised they could successfully reach the mission of removing single-use plastics used in bottled water.

26-year-old Harsha Sunkara is the co-founder and CEO of Watalog. He is a Master’s in Computer Science from the University of Cincinnati, having industry experience in technology and events management.
29-year-old Vijay K. Reddy is the co-founder and Director of Watalog. He completed his Engineering from Malla Reddy College of Engineering & Technology, having industry experience in marketing and research.
