Born from a personal journey of healing and rooted in the philosophy of nature, Gujarat-based organic and sustainable health and wellness brand Anahata Organic is more than just a brand—it’s a movement. A movement toward building a community centred on wellness, nature, and ethics.

Founded in 2020 by Gujarat-based cancer survivor and resilient entrepreneur Radhika Iyer, Anahata Organic has transformed from a small, dedicated group of six people into a well-known name in the organic health and wellness industry—a testament to vision and persistence.

The Spark of Inspiration: Turning Challenges into Purpose

The founder of Anahata Organic, Radhika Iyer, began her journey with an unexpected challenge—a cancer diagnosis. While the treatments cured her physically, it was the aftermath that transformed her life.

"You can cure cancer, but what happens after that? Nobody talks about what comes after—the coping, the healing. So I chose the path of natural healing," said Radhika in an exclusive interview with Startup Pedia.

"You need a lot of courage to do that. Many people are scared, but I think we can set an example and educate people," she added.

Her faith in nature led her to the Himalayas, where she connected with yoga and Ayurveda. The therapeutic properties of Indian herbs and oils deeply inspired her and eventually became the foundation of her brand.

In her words, “The Himalayas changed my perspective. It was like the universe was guiding me toward my purpose. I realized the power of Indian herbs and oils, and I wanted to share that with the world.”

Seeing the impact of yoga and healthy living in her own life, she began teaching yoga to others for free. As she progressed, she realized that she could help people live healthier lives through a few products made from organic and natural ingredients.

From Homemade Remedies to a Thriving Brand

In 2020, Radhika Iyer started Anahata Organic with her personal savings and a strong vision, investing an initial ₹5 crore. What started with six dedicated employees and a limited selection of 20 products has now grown into a thriving sustainable health and wellness brand, offering over 250 SKUs, including food, skincare, haircare, and even items for worship.

During her interview with Startup Pedia, Radhika shared, “Our best-selling products include aloe vera gels, hibiscus powders, navel oil, cocoa oil, and many more. Each product is thoughtfully priced, ranging from ₹150 to ₹2,500, making them accessible to a wide audience.”

What sets Gujarat-based brand Anahata Organic apart from its competitors is its commitment to creating safe, chemical-free products. The brand prides itself on avoiding harmful skin irritants and preservatives commonly used in the industry.

"Natural oils, herbs, and flowers are used as preservatives, ensuring that every product remains pure, effective, and environmentally friendly," said the Gujarat-based cancer survivor-turned-entrepreneur.

She further explained, “Every element we use has a role to play. We source raw materials from farmers and certified suppliers, including neem, hibiscus, turmeric, and jasmine, as they are eco-friendly. Our objective is to design products that are not only beneficial for the body but also environmentally sustainable.”

In the production process at its manufacturing unit Kamicka Organic, Anahata Organic combines traditional Ayurvedic techniques with modern methods, such as infusing turmeric in oils and water instead of simply using powders. This ensures that the products maximize the benefits of raw ingredients.

Sustainability at the Core of Anahata Organic

To quote Radhika Iyer, “Anahata Organic is more than just a business—it’s a movement toward vedic living.”

The chemical-free health and wellness brand sources 99% of its raw materials from all over India, with over 50% coming from Gujarat. It provides opportunities to local communities and small farmers, thereby promoting sustainable practices.

"We integrate backward," the cancer survivor-entrepreneur explained during the Startup Pedia interview.

"We work directly with farmers, guiding them on organic practices and even funding their efforts. It’s a community-driven approach," she added.

Anahata Organic also collaborates with women entrepreneurs and artisans to design eco-friendly packaging and handcrafted designs, ensuring sustainability across all aspects of production.

The brand’s partnerships extend to tribal communities, sourcing ingredients like honey and herbs from the forests of Telangana, Kerala, and Gujarat. This not only ensures the purity of its products but also uplifts marginalized groups.

Leveraging Social Media to Build Awareness and Brand Loyalty

Anahata Organic has effectively utilized social media as a tool to grow its brand in the digital age. It started with just 32 followers on Instagram and has now built an organic community of over 123,000 followers.

"Instagram is not just a platform for us; it’s a tool to educate and connect with our audience," said Radhika in her interview with Startup Pedia.

The brand regularly engages followers with posts about ingredient benefits, production processes, and tips for sustainable living. Free consultations and one-on-one interactions with customers have further strengthened trust and loyalty. Many followers have shared their own health journeys using Anahata Organic products, further amplifying the brand’s credibility.

This digital engagement has been instrumental in Anahata's growth, contributing to both direct sales and brand awareness. Today, Anahata makes an average monthly revenue of ₹22 lakhs, a significant jump from its initial ₹1-2 lakh per month.

While the Gujarat-based health and wellness brand sells its products across India through its website, it also caters to international markets.

“Exporting to foreign countries began about a year ago, and it has significantly boosted our sales growth,” said the founder of Anahata Organic.

She further noted that consumers in foreign markets are often more inclined toward organic and healthy products compared to those in India.

"We want Anahata to become a household name, synonymous with conscious living and sustainability," Radhika shared during the Startup Pedia interview.

The brand plans to showcase its products at international exhibitions and focus on regions where demand for organic, chemical-free products is rising.

Additionally, Anahata Organic seeks to establish more farmer cooperatives, scaling its ethical sourcing model while maintaining product quality.

"We want to build a brand that lasts 150 years—a legacy rooted in values and integrity," she shared.
