In a candid conversation on YouTuber Prakhar Gupta’s podcast, entrepreneur Aman Gupta shared how his life was marked by financial instability.
Aman Gupta's initial years of struggle
For years, he earned little to no money and had to depend on his wife, Priya Dagar, for financial support. Despite financial issues, Aman kept pushing forward.
“Till I was 40, meri wife ke paise se ghar chalta tha…I’ve burnt everything to be where I am today,” the boAt founder shared on Prakhar Ke Pravachan.
Aman recalled travelling on local buses, intentionally boarding them from the first stop to get a seat so he could catch up on sleep or use the time to study. He revealed working for long hours, sometimes up to 16 hours a day and switching between multiple jobs.
While his peers were established in their careers, Aman was still a struggler. Often, he doubted his decisions. It wasn’t until he turned 40 that his career began skyrocketing as he had always dreamt of. He acknowledged that up until that point, it was his wife Priya Dagar who carried the financial burden for the household.
While Aman struggled in the career front, his personal life thrived with romance and resilience, almost like a romantic film.
Aman and Priya's 'DDLJ' like love story
During a recent conversation with social media influencer Ranveer Allahabadia, Aman compared his own story to the Bollywood classic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.
When Aman was heartbroken about Priya, his father encouraged him to go after her, almost like the supportive father figure played by Anupam Kher in the blockbuster movie. Aman desperately searched for Priya in multiple train stations to find where she was headed.
Spotting her name on a train chart, he boarded the train without a ticket, approached her, and simply said “hello”.
That moment sparked a deeper conversation between them. Since then, they’ve been inseparable for the last 18 years.
Aman did not become an overnight success. In the same interview, he shared launching five ventures before boAt Lifestyle—all of which failed to take off. However, each setback taught him valuable lessons, helping him to build boAt.
According to a report by GQ India, the current net worth of Aman Gupta is around Rs 720 crore.
