Food delivery platform Swiggy on Friday launched an exclusive nationwide discount programme for college students, which allows them to subscribe to the Swiggy One and One Lite programmes at a discounted rate.

“Students can avail of three months’ subscription of Swiggy One and One Lite at discounted rates for free deliveries and extra discounts. They can also get flat Rs 200 off on food delivery orders above Rs 699/ Rs 799/ Rs 899,” the company said in its filing.

Currently active on around 2,000 college campuses across more than 200 cities, it plans to expand to over 4,500 institutions by July 2025.

More details about the Students' Rewards Program

The programme allows students aged between 18 and 25 to access benefits by verifying their college email address through the Swiggy app.

Once registered, students can avail discounted rates on Swiggy’s subscription services, Swiggy One and One Lite, as well as price reductions on food delivery orders and restaurant dining.

A flat Rs 200 discount is available on large orders, and for curated deals that include menu items priced from Rs 49 and above. Students dining out can also avail of 20% discounts on bills above Rs 799 through the Dineout platform, which Swiggy acquired in 2022.

This new initiative caters to students across a wide range of cities and college types, including larger institutions like IIT Bombay, BITS Pilani (Goa), and Kalinga Institute of Technology in Bhubaneswar, as well as smaller regional campuses in Patiala, Rajkot, Sonipat, and Dehradun.

As specified by Swiggy, the program is intended to provide greater value and convenience for students, many of whom rely on food delivery services while living away from home. However, it is also accessible when students are off-campus, including during internships or semester breaks in different cities.

Swiggy stated receiving a good response to the initiative during its pilot phase, though it did not disclose the number of sign-ups.

Students at colleges not yet included in the program can request participation by contacting the company directly from their institutional email ID.

This comes as Swiggy continues to diversify its offerings and grow its younger consumer base.

Swiggy offers 10-minute food delivery under Bolt. It has also launched an in-house rapid food delivery segment called Snacc as an independent app.
