About DeskEats

DeskEats currently caters to 30 cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Gurugram, Pune, and Kolkata.

The food delivery company said that both its recent offerings —the High Protein and DeskEats categories are aimed at changing consumer needs, whether that’s eating healthier or eating smarter during a busy workday.

Under the DeskEats category, users can search for “Office” or “Work” to find a collection of nearly 700,000 food items from across 200,000 restaurants live on the platform, Swiggy said in a statement.

Food choices in DeskEats

It includes varieties such as Value Combos, Stress Munchies, Deadline Desserts, One-handed Grabbies, Healthy Nibbles, and Teamwork Bites that resonate with the office-going crowd.

Before the official launch, Swiggy did a pilot test of the initiative to find out that in the stress munchies category, chicken popcorn topped the list in Bengaluru. Moreover, fries were most chosen in Mumbai, and garlic breadsticks were popular in Gurugram.

For the healthy nibbles category, salads were in demand among office-goers across all cities.

In the pilot test, Mumbai emerged as the top city for DeskEats, while ‘One Hand Grabbies’ was found to be the most popular offering.

Swiggy's 2 new launches

When ‘high-protein’ was launched, the category saw over 1.8 million users discovering healthier options during the pilot phase itself and is now live across 30 cities, Swiggy said.

Deepak Maloo, vice president, food strategy, customer experience & new initiative, said, “Whether it’s a quick bite between meetings or a team treat after a deadline, DeskEats is built to match the rhythm of an office day. We understand that there is a need for a team-order-friendly selection that is available without the need to spend a lot of time on the app. DeskEats aims to address such use cases and redefine the experience of, quite literally, having a meal at your desk.”

According to Swiggy, DeskEats builds upon the success of Swiggy’s Corporate Rewards programme, which has already onboarded 14,000 companies and 150,000 employees within just three months of rolling out.

Through this programme, employers can offer food and grocery delivery benefits as part of employee wellness schemes and incentives.

Perks include flat ₹225 off on food orders, up to ₹2,000 off on Dineout bookings, and ₹100 off on Instamart purchases. Employees can access the benefits by typing “Corporate” in the Swiggy app.
