Online food delivery company Swiggy has launched a new service called the ’99 Store’. The food delivery startup will be offering single-serve meals at a flat price of Rs 99 across 175+ cities in India.

The new feature for single meals priced at just ₹99 is curated for price-conscious users and intends to provide affordable options to the frequent Gen-Z consumers.

Cities to have the ’99 Store’

The facility is currently available to consumers in more than 175 cities, including Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Delhi, Pune, Chennai, Lucknow, Vadodara, Thiruvananthapuram, Tirupati, Patna, Surat, Bhopal, Dehradun, Mysuru, and Ludhiana.

The curated dishes come with free delivery on all orders under the ‘Eco Saver’ delivery mode to ensure cost efficiency while maintaining reliable service quality.

App users can explore dishes from a wide variety of cuisines, including Rolls, Biryani, Noodles, North Indian, South Indian, Burgers, Pizzas, and Cakes, so that affordability doesn’t come at the cost of choice or taste.

“At ₹99, this isn’t just a price point—it’s a promise,” said Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy’s Food Marketplace. “We’ve worked closely with restaurant partners and our delivery fleet to make everyday meals more affordable without cutting corners”.

The initiative is designed with Generation Z in mind, particularly students and new employees who rely on food delivery regularly but are watching their budgets.

Swiggy’s new launch comes when Rapido is entering the food delivery space with a very different business model. Rapido, best known for its bike taxi services, is starting food delivery in the next couple of weeks with a zero-commission model to restaurants.

Instead of taking a percentage cut from each order, Rapido will charge a fixed fee of ₹25 for orders under ₹400 and ₹50 for orders above ₹400. Restaurants onboarded by Rapido will also have no additional packaging charges and identical pricing across dine-in and delivery menus.

Delivery costs will also be subsidised by Rapido. For orders over ₹100, restaurants will pay ₹25 plus GST, while consumers will pay ₹20. For smaller orders, restaurants will only pay ₹10.

While Swiggy is introducing affordable meals for all and Rapido is offering commission-free partnerships, it can be sensed that the food delivery business is now focusing on value-driven models.
