One of India’s leading payments and financial services distribution companies, Paytm (One97 Communications Limited), has unveiled a ‘Hide Payment’ option that allows users to easily keep certain transactions hidden from their payment history.

This feature will help people manage their payment visibility and enable them to hide and unhide payments as needed.

The company claims that this privacy-focused feature has been thoughtfully introduced after taking into account extensive customer feedback.

HIDE PAYMENTS WITH A SINGLE SWIPE

On first impression, one might second-guess the use case of a feature that allows people to hide their payments. But if you think about it objectively, you would realize that this is more about privacy than ‘hiding’ something.

It could be a pharmacy visit someone makes and wouldn’t want anyone to even get the hint, or a personal purchase they make from an online shop. Another example could be about something as simple as a surprise that someone has planned for their partner and wouldn’t want them to know before it’s time.

The ‘Hide Payment’ option will provide flexibility to users to keep certain payments and transactions discreet.

According to the company’s press release, a Paytm spokesperson echoed the same thoughts about privacy.

“Our focus has always been on understanding what our customers need, and that continues to guide our mobile payment innovations. With ‘Hide Payment’, we’re enabling individuals to hide and unhide transactions while maintaining privacy. It’s a thoughtful addition that brings more control and comfort to everyday payments,” they said.

HOW TO USE THE ‘HIDE PAYMENT’ FEATURE

Paytm has made the feature relatively easy for everyone to use, with just a single swipe needed to activate it.

If you want to hide a certain transaction, simply open the Paytm app, go to the “Balance & History” section, and swipe left on the payment you wish to hide.

An option called “Hide” will appear, and you just have to click on “Yes.” Moving forward, this specific transaction will be hidden from the payment history.

But what if you want to keep it in the open again? Simply go to “Balance & History,” click on “Payment History,” and select “View Hidden Payments” from the menu.

As confirmation, Paytm will ask you for your mobile’s PIN or biometric (finger/face) verification. Once completed, you can simply swipe left on the transaction you wish to hide and tap on “Unhide.”

RECENT DEVELOPMENTS AT PAYTM

As a pioneer of mobile payments in India, Paytm has been on an innovation spree.

Recently, it rolled out the QR Widget, which allows users to quickly access the scan and pay option. Along with UPI Lite, it also introduced a way to check UPI-linked bank account balance and download UPI statements in Excel and PDF formats.

Now, the mobile payments and financial services distribution company also supports international UPI payments in Singapore, France, Mauritius, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and the UAE.
