In the bustling tri-city area of Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula, a quiet revolution is brewing. Satbir Dhull, a 44-year-old serial entrepreneur, is rewriting the rules of India’s gig economy.
His brainchild, Workerlly, a Panchkula-based SaaS startup, isn’t just another home services company — it’s a movement to restore dignity to the nation’s 450 million informal sector workers.
Launched in March 2025, Workerlly’s app for gig workers in India has already notched up over 1,000 downloads in just two months, serving 1,500+ customers and empowering over 200 registered workers.
However, Satbir’s journey to starting Workerlly wasn’t a straight path.
With over 14 years of global IT experience under his belt, he traded a cushy corporate career for the unpredictable world of entrepreneurship.
“I always wanted to build something that solves real problems for the common people of India,” Satbir reflects.
His earlier ventures—Damia Global Services, a ₹20 crore turnover building safety firm, and Daira Technologies, a digital marketing & IT services company—proved his mettle in the world of entrepreneurship.
But Workerlly is personal for Satbir. It’s about giving blue-collar workers a fair shot at better income and flexibility.
Spotting the Big Gap:
In early 2024, Satbir stumbled upon a glaring flaw in the gig economy.
Platforms like UrbanCompany, while efficient, often left general workers and semi-skilled workers at the mercy of rigid schedules and low pay—₹200 to ₹500 a day for backbreaking work.
“The gig workers are the backbone of our urban landscape, yet they remain undervalued and underpaid,” says Satbir Dhull, now the founder and CEO of Workerlly, during an exclusive interview with Startup Pedia.
His research revealed a stark reality: millions of maids, drivers, cleaners, plumbers, electricians, and technicians in India’s urban yet informal gig work market lacked access to reliable, safe, and well-paying opportunities.
Determined to bridge this gap, Satbir envisioned Workerlly as a digital platform that empowers workers to choose their work hours and bid for jobs.
“It’s about giving gig workers control over their work and their worth,” Satbir proudly shares
Thus, Workerlly Tech Pvt Ltd was born in August 2024 as a bootstrapped startup with a mission to transform lives in the Chandigarh-Mohali-Panchkula region and beyond.
Building & Launching Workerlly:
Creating the Workerlly app was no small feat. As an innovative startup, it needed a robust technological backbone to serve both customers and workers seamlessly.
Satbir’s team developed two apps—one for work providers (customers) and one for work seekers (gig workers)—available on both Android and iOS.
How the Workerlly app works is simple yet revolutionary: workers create Aadhar-verified profiles, receive real-time job notifications, bid competitively for work, and get paid hourly. Customers, meanwhile, enjoy transparency, verified workers, and instant service.
But the road to launch was rocky. Building brand awareness in a crowded market dominated by giants was daunting. Onboarding unorganised gig workers, many unfamiliar with digital platforms, required patience.
“We ran training programmes to upskill workers and assure them of reliable income, an initiative that we have continued,” Satbir shares with Startup Pedia.
As a bootstrapped startup, managing finances was another hurdle. Hiring top-tier IT and marketing talent in a tier-2 city like Panchkula tested Satbir’s resolve.
Yet, by March 2025, Workerlly’s beta launch in the tri-city area marked a turning point.
How Workerlly Empowers the Unsung Heroes:

Workerlly’s impact is already palpable, and it is creating waves in the industry.
The platform caters to general workers like cleaners, gardeners, and housemaids, as well as semi-skilled workers such as plumbers, electricians, and drivers.
Workers set their own schedules, bid for service requests, and earn significantly more—₹25,000 to ₹35,000 a month compared to the usual under ₹20,000.
“With Workerlly, I can work when it suits me and earn more than I ever did,” says Satbir, quoting a worker’s feedback that fuels his drive.

For customers, Workerlly offers affordability and trust. Aadhar-verified workers, competitive pricing, and real-time tracking ensure a seamless experience.
The app’s bidding system lets workers negotiate rates within Workerlly’s city-specific minimums and maximums, fostering fairness.
In just 75 days, Workerlly has served 1,500 customers, proving its value in the Indian startup ecosystem.
Navigating Challenges & Eyeing the Future:
Despite its early success, Workerlly has faced its share of challenges.
“Limited funds forced us to be ruthlessly efficient. Every rupee had to be stretched,” Satbir admits.
Convincing workers to trust a new platform in a competitive market was another battle. Yet, Satbir’s focus on user-centricity—prioritising both worker and customer satisfaction—sets Workerlly apart.
Social media campaigns, influencer marketing, and SEO have bolstered its presence, with plans for more aggressive offline and online promotions on the horizon.
Looking ahead, Workerlly’s ambitions are bold.
Satbir aims to expand into the Delhi-NCR region within two months, followed by cities like Bangalore, Pune, and Mumbai by year-end. International expansion, especially to the Middle East, is also on the cards within three years.
“Our ultimate goal is to organise the unorganised gig market and boost workers’ incomes,” the CEO says.
Workerlly’s future phases will introduce B2B services, allowing companies to hire workers for large projects.
Its Phase 2 will onboard skilled workers like tutors, video editors, graphic designers, music artists, chefs, home nurses, accountants, gym trainers, while Phase 3 will include highly-skilled workers such as IT professionals, doctors, architects, and lawyers via remote support.

A Movement for Dignity:
Workerlly isn’t just a business—it is fast becoming a lifeline for India’s blue-collar and daily gig workers.
With NITI Aayog projecting 23.5 million gig workers by 2029-30, the Indian labour market is ripe for disruption. Workerlly’s SaaS platform is poised to lead this charge, offering a scalable, inclusive app-led model that benefits all stakeholders.
“We’re building a future where gig work is dignified, transparent, and rewarding,” Satbir declares.
As Workerlly scales, Satbir remains grounded in his mission. Funded by personal savings and contributions from friends and family, the startup is now seeking external investment to fuel the next phases of growth.
Its revenue generation in just two months signals a promising trajectory. However, for Satbir, the real victory lies in the stories of workers earning more, choosing their hours, and reclaiming their dignity.
In the heart of Panchkula, this serial entrepreneur is proving that innovation can be compassionate and technology can be used for social upliftment.
