Deepinder Goyal’s Zomato has just rolled out a 15-minute food delivery service to enter Instant Food Delivery Space. The new feature on the Zomato app will challenge rival companies Zepto, Swiggy's Bolt, and Magicpin.
Food delivery startup Zomato launches new service
The "15-minute delivery" option is available on the Explore section of the app, which displays a wide range of quick-to-prepare and ready-to-eat dishes from participating restaurants.
Notably, Gurugram-based Zomato discontinued its 10-minute delivery service in January 2023, a year after trying it out in Bengaluru, Gurugram, and select areas of Delhi.
The food-tech giant Zomato follows Swiggy’s Bolt by limiting deliveries to restaurants within a two-kilometre radius to provide quick service.
Although the service has not yet been officially announced, it is already live in select locations across major cities such as Mumbai and Bangalore.
Incidentally, Zomato’s "15-minute delivery" comes after Swiggy launched its “Bolt” last October. Swiggy has already reported that 5 per cent of its total food delivery orders are now fulfilled through this quick-delivery option, Bolt.
Existing players in the quick commerce space include Ola, which recently started a 10-minute food delivery service, Ola Dash, in Bengaluru, and Zepto, which launched a standalone app called Zepto Café to meet the ever-growing demand for ultra-fast deliveries.
