Meta launches AI-powered ‘Imagine Me’
Meta has introduced a new AI-powered feature, ‘Imagine Me,’ in India to redefine the future of chatting.
After introducing it in the US and a select few countries, Meta is bringing ‘Imagine Me’ to India within Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp.
What is ‘Imagine Me'?
The new feature allows users to create personalised images of themselves directly in chats.
Powered by the Emu image synthesis model, the tool allows users to generate creative, personalised images of themselves using simple text prompts.
Imagine Me allows users to express themselves uniquely by simply messaging Meta AI with a prompt such as, “imagine me as a 90s rockstar” or “imagine me as a comic book hero.”
Steps to use ‘Imagine Me'
To assist Meta AI in generating more accurate and customised photographs, users will be asked to provide three selfies showing the front, left, and right angles of their faces.
These setup photos and the user’s text prompt will be used by Meta AI to create unique images.
“Imagine me as a 90s gangster,” “imagine me as a cowboy,” are some examples of prompts you can use.
Users can also provide a setting in the prompt. For instance, “Imagine me as a 90s gangster sipping coffee at an Indian beach,” or “imagine me as a cowboy, but on the moon, wearing futuristic clothes.”
Meta AI will create a customised image in a few seconds.
If you are not happy with the AI-generated image of yourself, you have the option to edit, regenerate or remove it.
Users can also retake pictures, manage their preferences, or disable the feature.
For now, images created using Meta’s own AI tools are tagged with a watermark that says ‘Imagined with AI.’
For other AI-generated images, Meta will detect and tag them with a label that reads ‘AI info,’ as per its updated policy.
Incidentally, India is becoming a popular choice for global tech giants to introduce AI tools. Google announced a free one-year subscription to the company’s AI Pro plan for students aged 18 and over in the country, which would otherwise cost ₹19,500.Bharti Airtel recently partnered with US-based Perplexity to offer a complimentary 12-month subscription of Perplexity Pro to its 360 million customers.
