A recent post by an Indian Meta employee supporting an Uber driver’s startup has gone viral. The woman who works in San Francisco recently stumbled upon a poster seeking help for a fledgling business during an Uber ride.

The poster

The poster, attached to a seat in the Uber driver's vehicle, belonged to Frederico Coutrim, who happened to developing a translating app called TransChatMe. The app aims to revolutionize the translation process by providing real-time message translations, eliminating the need for users to copy and paste text into separate tools. Coutrim's humble request to passengers was straightforward - help him secure 1,000 downloads to attract potential investors.

Intrigued by Coutrim's entrepreneurial spirit, the Meta employee, Resham Khanna, started chatting with him about the app. Impressed by his determination to make communication easier across different languages through real-time translations, Khanna decided to lend a helping hand.

The power of social media 

Taking to social media, Khanna posted a picture of the poster on X (formerly Twitter), urging her network to support the Uber driver's venture. Her post captured attention from individuals working in adjacent fields, sparking a wave of support for Coutrim and his app, TransChatMe.

Within just 24 hours of Khanna's social media post, TransChatMe received an influx of 200 new users. The sudden surge in downloads not only boosted Coutrim's confidence but also brought his venture one step closer to reaching its goal of 1,000 users.

Expressing his gratitude to Khanna for her support, Coutrim reached out via email, acknowledging the crucial role she played in popularizing his app.
