In a tragic turn of events, a 40-year-old manager of a public sector bank allegedly jumped off the Atal Setu, part of the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL), on Monday morning.

According to police reports, the man, identified as Sushant Chakravarty, parked his red Maruti Brezza on the southbound stretch of the bridge before jumping off around 9.57 am. Senior police inspector Rohit Khot stated, “We received information from the traffic department, after which teams were dispatched to the scene to locate the man.”
After searching the manager’s vehicle, the police found that he lived in a rented apartment in Parel with his wife, seven-year-old daughter, and mother-in-law. Despite efforts to reach him through the information obtained from the vehicle's registration number, Chakravarty took drastic action by jumping into the sea along with his phone and car key.

Wife says her husband was under work pressure
During the inquiry, Chakravarty’s wife revealed that he had been under immense work pressure. He worked at the bank’s Hutatma Chowk office in Fort and had taken his family for a weekend getaway to Lonavala before the tragic incident occurred.
As authorities continue to investigate the matter, the Sewri police mentioned that they have not found any note left by Chakravarty. Search operations to locate him were temporarily halted due to darkness but are set to resume the next day. Fishermen in the area have been approached to assist with any information that could lead to finding Chakravarty.
