Google will invest $15 billion in India
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian on Tuesday (October 14, 2025) revealed plans to establish the company’s largest artificial intelligence and data centre hub in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam.

The tech giant will invest $15 billion in India over the next five years to develop a 1-gigawatt data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, integrating AI infrastructure, renewable energy, and an expanded fibre network.
“It’s the largest AI hub that we are going to be investing in anywhere in the world outside of the US,” Kurian said at an event in Delhi to sign the formal agreement.
“This gigawatt-scale AI hub will house data locally and help power AI-driven solutions across sectors,” he added.

Google CEO Sundar Pichai called the upcoming Visakhapatnam project a “landmark development” that will combine gigawatt-scale compute capacity, a new international subsea gateway, and large-scale energy infrastructure.

PM Modi, Andhra CM shares on X
The Prime Minister said the multi-faceted investment, including gigawatt-scale data centre infrastructure, fits with the government's vision to build a Viksit Bharat.
"Delighted by the launch of the Google AI Hub in the dynamic city of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh," PM Modi said in a post on X.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu lauded PM Modi's vision and expressed his optimism about the project.
“Prime Minister Modi was clear that Google has to come to India for this,” Naidu said. “We brought Microsoft to Hyderabad earlier, and today, Google is coming to Visakhapatnam. With this, we can achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047 using AI.”
Google partners with Adani, Airtel
Adani Enterprises Ltd. and Bharti Airtel Ltd. have come together with Google to build India's largest AI data centre in Visakhapatnam, as part of the latter's $15-billion push into India's AI sector.
The co-investment by the three bigshot companies also includes new transmission lines, renewable energy projects and energy storage systems in Andhra Pradesh.

It is an investment in the soul of a rising nation," Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani said in a statement on Tuesday (14 October 2025). “Visakhapatnam is now set to become a global destination for technology, and we are thrilled to be the architects of this monumental journey.”
