After Google, Papa Kahte Hain actress Mayoori Kango takes the role of CEO at Publicis Groupe

While many youngster leave their academic careers to chase the glamorous world of Bollywood, actress Mayoori Kango, best known for her role in the film Papa Kahte Hain, walked away from stardom at the peak of her film career to pursue corporate ambitions.

Mayoori Kango takes the position of CEO at Publicis Global Delivery 

After working in a couple of companies, Mayoori worked at Google for over 6 years. She resigned from the position of Industry Head at the tech giant to join as CEO at the global advertising giant, Publicis Global Delivery (PGD), this August.

Announcing her big career move, the former actress wrote on LinkedIn yesterday, “I'm delighted to share that I've rejoined Publicis Groupe as part of the global executive leadership team for #Publicis Global Delivery (PGD). In this role, I'll be partnering with the PGD Global team to shape our global solutions and services across media, tech, and digital — while also stepping up our AI practice.”

Interestingly, this isn’t her first time with Publicis Groupe.

Mayoori had been the Managing Director at Performics before moving on to Google.

Best known for the iconic song Ghar Se Nikalte Hi, the actress would be a part of the global executive leadership team at PGD.

She also announced “wearing a second hat” as CEO for the India Delivery Center, where she is looking forward to working with talented teams to push boundaries, innovate, and create meaningful impact for Publicis clients worldwide.

“It feels great to be back — grateful for the warm welcome and excited for the journey ahead,” Mayoori Kango wrote on LinkedIn.

About Mayoori's educational background

The actress has done an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Baruch College, New York. She has also done another MBA in Marketing from Zicklin School of Business, New York.

Why did the actress leave IIT Kanpur?

After cracking IIT Kanpur, Mayoori Kango got an opportunity to act in a movie. Born into a family connected with theatre, Mayoori stepped into Bollywood by fate. While visiting her mother in Mumbai, she met filmmaker Saeed Akhtar Mirza, who offered her a role in the 1995 film, Naseem. Initially, she rejected the role because of her approaching board exams, but she eventually accepted the part. Impressed by her acting, Mahesh Bhatt cast her as the lead in Papa Kehte Hai (1996). She shared screen space with Jugal Hansraj and rose to fame. Kango also acted in the multi-starrer Hogi Pyaar Ki Jeet (1999).
