India on Monday banned 16 Pakistani YouTube Channels that were spreading communally sensitive information after the Pahalgam attack.

Top government sources have confirmed that the Government of India has taken the step on the recommendations of the Ministry of Home Affairs, just days after 26 people were killed in a terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.

India bans 16 Pakistani channels

The banned platforms include YouTube channels of Pakistani news outlets—Dawn News, Samaa TV, ARY News, Geo News, Suno News and others that were disseminating provocative and communally sensitive content, false and misleading narratives and pictures.

Also, the YouTube channels of journalists Irshad Bhatti, Asma Shirazi, Umar Cheema and Muneeb Farooq have been banned. Other handles include The Pakistan Reference, Samaa Sports, Uzair Cricket and Razi Naama.

About Pahalgam terrorist attack

The terrorist attack occurred in Baisaran meadow, near the popular tourist town of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir.

It is one of the deadliest attacks in the region in a decade since the 2019 Pulwama strike, which claimed the lives of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) teams have been stationed at the Pahalgam terror attack site since April 23. The teams, led by an IG, DIG, and SP from the anti-terror agency, have questioned eyewitnesses who observed the April 22 attack.

The Indian Army is on high alert, launching several search operations following the attack in Pahalgam.

The incident has sparked nationwide outrage. Protests are erupting across the country, with citizens demanding stricter action against Pakistan over the Pahalgam attack.

PM Modi bashes the "perpetrators and conspirators"

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that terrorists and their backers carried out the Pahalgam attack to destroy Kashmir again, as they did not like the return of peace and prosperity.

PM Modi vowed the "harshest" response to the "perpetrators and conspirators" in his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio address.

"The whole world stands with 140 crore Indians in our fight against terrorism. I once again assure the affected families that they will get justice, and justice will be done," the Prime Minister said.
