Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath has pointed out four sectors in which he thinks India can dominate the global market for at least three years.
Nikhil Kamath names 4 promising sectors
In a recent post on X, Kamath wrote, “If one were to define a durable good as something that lasts more than 3 years, then there is a huge opportunity for homegrown Indian brands to draw global interest, especially as a previously globalising world gets more protectionist.”
The Zerodha boss ranked the four promising sectors as:
1 Furniture
2 Jewellery and watches
3 Carpets, lighting, fixtures
4 Luggage
According to Kamath, Indian companies could win globally by focusing on sectors such as quality furniture, jewellery and watches, lighting, and luggage.
He ranked them in the order of opportunities, urging Indian manufacturers to target long-cycle goods that can travel and where branding and craftsmanship matter.

Netizens react
Netizens have lauded Nikhil Kamath’s opinion.
"Totally with you on that list — especially furniture at the top. India’s got such amazing craftsmanship and raw material, it’s just waiting to be packaged right and shipped globally. I also think there’s a big gap in the modular/flat-pack space — desi version of IKEA but with more soul. Affordable, easy to move, and still stylish. Huge opportunity there if someone nails it," a user replied.
'Spot on! The next generation of global brands might be Made in India not only in technology, but in enduring, tangible products Furniture with character, jewellery with stories, carpets woven with heritage, and bags that go around the world all set to steal the show! Desi strength, global appeal Let's build it," said another individual.
"Jewellery and watches could be an interesting case cause India has so much history and culture around them," another person commented.
