“BIG CITY SCHOOLS ARE CLUBS”

Responding to a post on the matter on X (formerly Twitter), entrepreneur Ashneer Grover said that schools in large cities operate like “clubs” with a status attached to them.

He wrote, “All big city schools are clubs - hard to get in and status symbols.”

Further, calling out the management, he added,“All school management / owners have therefore started acting as club owners - not educators.”

WHAT DID NETIZENS SAY

With a majority of social media users agreeing with Grover’s take, an individual called schools as “syndicates.”

“Schools are syndicates now..but the problem here is parents as well. busy with work phone social media reels society status etc that they are clueless about the mental state of their own children..they will fight the school but forget to support their child unconditionally,”they wrote.

Another user held parents responsible and stated,“Parents are more concerned about the status symbol associated with the school rather than the education their kids are getting.”

“The repeated demand of money for picnic, movies and other activities, also never take responsibility and put everything on child forced me to withdraw my kid from a private school to Delhi Government school just outside my society,” yet another added.

Calling for mental health care for young children, one X user wrote,“High time we stipulate mandatory weekly counselling classes for our teens.  its a phase of transition and teachers in schools need to be sensitized aswell.”
