Bharath Rankvatt, founder of Enlog
After working at Google, Mercedes-Benz R&D, and Ford in network analytics and product development for years, decided to quit his high-paying job and do something to reduce energy consumption. It was his dream since college days to build something that reduces energy waste and optimises electricity consumption. He founded Enlog to realise this dream.
In an exclusive interview with Startup Pedia, co-founder Jharna Saha talked about Enlog’s AI-powered energy management and Internet of Things (IoT) solution.

How was Enlog formed?
With the rapid growth of industries and urbanisation, there is a surge in global energy demands, which further intensifies the pressure on resources.
According to the 2022 International Energy Agency report, there is an expected 40% rise in global electricity demand by 2040, because of population growth, economic expansion, and electrification of transport and manufacturing sectors.
Bharath founded Enlog in Delhi in 2019 to reduce energy consumption by 23% through various implementations. Jharna Saha and Ayush Gupta joined him shortly.
“The company was initially launched by Bharath in 2017 as EPVI, focusing only on lighting,” Jharna told Startup Pedia. “The company produced AutoSwitcher lighting products and sold 3k+ units.”
However, in 2019, EPVI transformed into Enlog, changing its role in providing IoT-based energy management solutions.
“Our platform reduces energy waste and optimises electricity consumption,” the lady entrepreneur told Staretup Pedia. “Besides, we promote sustainability across different sectors.”
The cofounder further shared how Bharath dreamed of saving energy while he was pursuing a B.Tech from Kurukshetra University.
Bharath Rankvatt conducted extensive market research in 2019, including monitoring energy consumption patterns of 1000+ houses, factories, and hotels. It revealed that there is a significant gap in energy management, specifically in small businesses and households. In simple terms, they were unaware that energy is actually being wasted through certain activities.
In 2020, he developed Smi-Fi, which is an IoT-based energy-saving device. Jharna Saha, who joined Bharath in his mission, has a good deal of experience in UI/UX and brand building and redesigned the app.
In 2021, the Enlog app was launched to provide real-time monitoring of energy usage to its users.
Through a cloud-based platform, users can monitor consumption and potential savings and enable proactive energy management.
There are various energy-saving modes to choose from, helping in balancing comfort and efficiency.
Through autonomous management of HVAC systems by Smi-Fi, energy savings became easier.

Recognising gap
“Many companies can pull data and show you on a dashboard about details of your electric usage, but still, there could be a gap,” the Enlog cofounder said. “Also, people might not have the time to check the app. What can I do with the data? How do I know if my appliance is working fine? What should be the next step? We saw the gap!” she added.
The electricity saving startup claims to have managed 30,000 MWh of electricity and mitigated over 5500 tons of carbon emissions, contributing to the global drive for sustainability.
As shared by cofounder Jharna Saha, the company has partnered with over 1750 properties, including PGs, hotels, offices and retail outlets in Delhi NCR, including Bloom Hotel and Yourspace. The startup’s AI-driven solutions have reduced electricity consumption by up to 23% for clients, cutting operational costs, extending appliance lifespans, and lowering overall energy waste.

Business Model of Enlog
Enlog’s primary strategy is to deal with B2B customers.
The cost of Enlog’s energy management solution ranges between Rs 1000 to Rs 1 lakh. The price depends on the requirements of the clients and the size of the device they purchase.
“Over 23,000 users saved more than 30,000 MWh of electricity, which helped in reducing more than 5,500000 tonnes of carbon emissions,” Saha informed Startup Pedia.
Enlog has expanded its operations in Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
In Delhi-NCR alone, it has partnered with more than 750 hostels & PGs, and 35 hotels.
By 2027, Enlog aims to reduce an additional 1 million tonnes of carbon emissions.
Investment and annual turnover
Enlog was bootstrapped with Rs 40 to Rs 45 lakh by Bharath from his personal investment.
Later, the Delhi-based startup raised Rs 2.75 crore from Vinners Group and Elina Investments, making the company's value Rs 40 crore.
“Another investor round is in talks,” Jharna disclosed to Startup Pedia.
As shared by the Enlog co-founder, Enlog generated around Rs. 4.5 crore revenue till FY2025.
Jharna shared how, after years of dedicated research and development, Bharath created a patented device that handles electricity wastage from all angles, using real-time data, automation, and optimisation to provide practical, sustainable power savings.

How does Enlog work?
1- Streamlined installation
The device is compact, measuring just 40 by 20 mm, and comes in two variants that can function either as a switch or, with an added calliper, serve as an MCB. Because of its small size, the device allows easy installation behind existing switchboards or to be integrated seamlessly into any electrical setup.
2 - Automated appliance regulation
After the device is installed at the premises’ main distribution board, it automatically regulates appliances to ensure they consume electricity only when needed. It turns off those left on unnecessarily and corrects faulty setups that may be causing silent power leakages.
3- Data-driven decision making
The device captures and analyses up to 25,000 data points instantly, including current, voltage, power factor, and harmonics. These detailed insights allow the system to identify and correct inefficiencies in electricity usage automatically, without the need for manual intervention.
4 - Real-time monitoring and optimisation
The device continuously feeds data to a central server. By analysing this data, the device makes small but crucial adjustments to reduce the overall load on the electricity system.
5 - User-specific consumption
By understanding and adjusting to the specific consumption patterns of both household and industry users, the device personalises its optimisation strategy to maximise energy savings without affecting user convenience.
Currently supporting over 23,000 users, Enlog’s technology has wide-ranging applications across hotels, co-living spaces, commercial offices, retail outlets, and homes.
