Kuldeep Sorathiya, Founder of Ksquare Energy
While electricity bills burn holes in pockets in urban cities, in rural areas, irregular electricity makes life tougher—especially in the scorching summer.
This is what Kuldeep Sorathiya and Kalpesh Sorathiya, the Gujarat-based entrepreneurs, are solving through their solar energy venture, Ksquare Energy.
“People think solar is expensive or complicated,” says Kuldip, founder of Ksquare Energy, in an exclusive interview with Startup Pedia.
“We’re here to prove that it’s neither — it’s simple, it’s powerful, and it’s for everyone.”
Founded in 2017, Ksquare Energy has two core verticals:
B2C – Residential Rooftop Solar Projects
Offering end-to-end installation under government schemes like the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, Ksquare provides homes with solar systems that generate and even export power.
B2B – Solar Product Supply to EPC Companies
From solar panels to inverters, from cables to custom-built DCDB/ACDB boxes, Ksquare supplies 70–80 variants across 15–20 SKUs to over 1,500 EPC clients across 23 states.
“Although we deal in both B2B and B2C, the heart of Ksquare Energy lies in its residential projects — where real change is visible, one rooftop at a time,” says the Gujarat-based founder.
As one of just 25 certified vendors nationwide under the PM Surya Ghar scheme, Ksquare’s footprint is expanding rapidly.
The Secret Sauce: Data, Service, and a Zero Loss Guarantee
At Ksquare, the customer journey is designed to be seamless, efficient, and deeply tech-enabled. It begins with pre-sales qualification, where its team assesses leads to ensure genuine interest and site suitability.
The team then conducts free site visits to evaluate technical feasibility and understand the customer’s energy needs.
Once the project is greenlit, they handle the government registration process under relevant schemes, ensuring customers don’t have to navigate the complexities themselves.
Materials are delivered within 3–4 days of payment, followed by prompt installation and the setup of a bidirectional meter — this enables tracking of both power consumption and surplus energy export.
The post-installation support of the Gujarat-based solar energy venture ensures the system continues to perform efficiently.
During the Startup Pedia interview, the founder of Ksquare Energy says,
"What truly sets us apart is our 5-year Zero Loss Guarantee — a first-of-its-kind assurance in India. If a solar system is down for more than 48 hours, we compensate the customer for the generation loss. It’s our way of backing the reliability of our work with real accountability."
Unlike competitors in the top 10, Ksquare is neither funded nor listed, yet operates profitably across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, with warehouses in Pune, Bangalore, Lucknow, and Ahmedabad.

Rejection Was the Beginning of Ksquare Energy
Kuldeep’s story begins far from the boardrooms and solar panels of today. Born in Kolda village, Amreli district, Gujarat, into a farming family earning ₹4.5–5 lakh annually and weighed down by debts of ₹15–17 lakh, Kuldeep's childhood was rooted in rural struggle.
After studying in a government school until Class 7, he moved to Rajkot for further studies and eventually completed a B.E. in Electrical Engineering in Ahmedabad.
In 2017, he received an admission opportunity for master’s program in Canada. But his education loan was rejected — his family had no IT returns and had outstanding loans.
“I was shattered. For a week, I couldn’t get out of bed,” reminisced the founder in the Startup Pedia interview.
But life nudged him in a new direction. After briefly selling credit cards for ICICI Bank, earning ₹22,000 in a month, a relative suggested he look into the booming solar sector.
At the age of 23, with just ₹15,000, he launched Ksquare Energy from a rented 150 sq. ft. room. For the next year and a half, he did it all — sales, logistics, accounts, dispatch — often working 15–17 hours a day.
Too young to be taken seriously by clients, he avoided in-person meetings initially.
“Initially, I worked as a middleman, receiving my cut for every sale I made. Gradually, I gained confidence in myself and in the industry,” said the founder of Ksquare Energy.

Vision 2030: Energy for All, Jobs for Man
Kuldeep’s ambition pushes far beyond providing solar panels. His Vision 2030 for Ksquare Energy is bold and deeply purpose-driven — aiming not only to light up homes but to uplift lives across India.
By 2030, Ksquare is targeting ₹1,000 crore in annual revenue, with a presence in every Indian state. The plan includes establishing eight fulfillment centers, ensuring faster and more efficient service delivery, and achieving deep penetration at the city level to make solar energy more accessible to urban and rural households alike.
Job creation is a key pillar of this vision. Kuldip plans to double the company’s workforce each year, creating meaningful employment while fueling operational growth. To accelerate this mission, Ksquare is also open to strategic funding — not just for capital, but for partnerships that align with their vision of impact at scale.
“We’re not just providing power. We’re empowering lives — with energy and with employment,” Kuldeep concludes the Startup Pedia interview.
