For years, Rachit Mittal and Geet Choithani had been playing a tug-of-war with gyms.

They would, like a lot of people, take memberships, plan workouts, show up some days, and then eventually give up.

The reason? Boredom and monotony. Gyms simply didn't stimulate them enough.

“So when we finally decided to start something together, we knew we would love revolutionizing the fitness industry. It was in Singapore that we discovered the art of working out on water. The concept intrigued us so much that we decided to bring it to India,” Rachit Mittal, co-founder of GetWetFit, tells Startup Pedia in an exclusive interview.

Founded in 2024 and based in Delhi, GetWetFit is India's first health and wellness startup that makes individuals work out, meditate, and heal on water. As the country's pioneering floating fitness brand, it offers an alternative to gym workouts by blending fitness, mindfulness, and wellness in one session.

After four months of conducting trials, Rachit Mittal and Geet Choithani officially launched GetWetFit in April 2025.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

Hailing from Delhi, Rachit Mittal and Geet Choithani grew up as best friends living next to each other in the same neighbourhood.

After finishing their graduation in 2012 from Delhi University, Rachit and Geet were asked to join their respective family businesses.

“Rachit’s family is into Kraft paper, and mine works in the space of sanitary and bathroom fittings. Our parents wanted us to become second-generation entrepreneurs and join the family business, but we wanted to do something of our own,” Geet Choithani tells Startup Pedia.

So, in 2014, Rachit and Geet teamed up and started a grocery delivery startup called Direct Ghar Pe. They connected and partnered with numerous grocery stores, but unfortunately, the idea didn't scale.

“Next, we decided to go back to our family businesses. Both of us had one plan: automate our businesses in a way that we can find space and time to explore and do something of our own again. We just had that entrepreneurial itch always,” Rachit says.

Once their family businesses were on autopilot, Rachit Mittal and Geet Choithani decided to look for a market gap that they could solve in India.

While on a trip to Singapore, they came across the concept of fitness on water. People were getting on top of well-designed boards and finishing workouts.

“We did our research and found that something like this doesn't exist in India. We decided to redesign these floating boards used in countries like Singapore and align them with the average Indian’s height, weight, and bodily autonomy,” Geet Choithani shares.

Rachit and Geet had found a gap – one that resonated with them the most.

All through their youth and adult life, the duo has been signing up for gym memberships, going in for workouts for some days, and then randomly giving them up.

“If you think of it, gyms are very one-dimensional in nature. I, for one, have never had one interesting workout there. You just plug in your earphones, blast some music to keep yourself entertained, and repeat a series of motions until muscle failure,” Rachit Mittal explains.

The entrepreneur duo started talking to more people who go to the gym and others who are inconsistent with their workouts, and all of them echoed the same thought – the monotony was the primary cause of disinterest and inconsistency. That's when they knew that their idea of bringing fitness on water to India would work out.

In April 2024, Geet Choithani and Rachit Mittal founded GetWetFit as India's first health and wellness startup that is based on the concept of working out on unstable surfaces.

According to the founders, unlike traditional workouts on a stable surface that target isolated muscle groups, training on water challenges an individual’s balance, activates deeper core muscles, and delivers a more holistic mind-body fitness experience. JOURNEY AND CHALLENGES

Startup founders Rachit Mittal and Geet Choithani started GetWetFit as a bootstrapped venture.

Initially, they began by importing a couple of aqua charge boards to understand their mechanics and technicalities.

Then, they brought together a small manufacturing team and started redesigning the aqua charge boards in accordance with the average Indian’s height, weight, and bodily autonomy.

Then came a host of challenges that the startup founders had to navigate:

Firstly, the concept of floating fitness was (and still is) new to India. Rachit and Geet spent a lot of time trying to build awareness and make people understand the benefits of fitness on water.

GetWetFit began with a minimum fee of Rs 2000 per hour – a price point that the founders knew they would have to justify and validate.

“We conducted free trials with more than 350 people. This served two purposes. One, we were able to test and adapt our aqua charge boards and ensure that they adhere to the highest safety standards. And two, we were able to help people experience fitness on water. The thing with this is that you have to try it to truly understand its value,”entrepreneur Geet Choithani says.

Rachit and Geet went to numerous 4-star and 5-star hotel properties to pitch their floating fitness concept. They wanted their aqua charge boards and fitness programs to be integrated with the hotels’ offerings to their guests.

“This was a whole different ballgame and probably one of the toughest challenges. Endless meetings and trials with hotels like Crowne Plaza and Shangri-La happened. Multiple rounds of approvals happened. But we didn't back down. We knew what we were offering was packed with value. Finally, things fell into place,”startup founder Rachit Mittal shares.

Entrepreneurs Geet Choithani and Rachit Mittal also started building GetWetFit’s social media presence. From running Meta ads to partnering with Instagram influencers, they did everything.

“Marketing and brand-building are ongoing exercises. They pay off in the long term. Rachit and I still joke about it – our first advertisement brought us only one paid customer. We asked our families and cousins to come and fill in the remaining spots so that one good soul wouldn't feel alone,” Geet laughs.

Apart from the obstacles of finding a product-market-fit and then building awareness around it, startup founders Rachit Mittal and Geet Choithani battled with another challenge – one that seemed minor but cut deeply: the disbelief and demotivation of those around them.

Their outer and inner circles would tell them that the concept of fitness on water was a “fad.

“It was almost as if they were rooting for us to fail. In fact, strangers were kinder and more accepting of our idea,” Rachit remarks.

Regardless of everything, GetWetFit found not just acceptance but also tangible interest.

GETWETFIT: WATER, FITNESS, AND FLOW

Today, GetWetFit operates as India's first floating fitness brand that offers one-of-a-kind wellness experiences, such as FLAABH FIT and FLAABH Heal.

As an alternative to monotonous gym workouts, individuals get on aqua charge boards, under the supervision of certified trainers, and perform everything from full-body exercises and low-impact workouts to stability training and cross-training. This 60-minute session, called FLAABH Fit, includes a combination of High Intensity Interval Training, Pilates, Yoga, and Aerobics.

Under FLAABH Heal, GetWetFit offers wellness activities like mindfulness, meditation, and sound healing on water.

“It's a whole package of movement, mindfulness, and scenic water. No mirrors, no heavy equipment, and absolutely no excuses,” Rachit Mittal remarks.

The floating fitness brand’s panel of trainers come from around the world, such as places like Dubai. They design the training modules in a way that takes into account the needs of everyone – beginners, weight loss seekers, regular fitness enthusiasts, athletes, and even high-performance trainers.

“Our aqua charge boards are safe for everyone, from a child to an adult. Anyone weighing between 20 kilograms and 120 kilograms can very safely use the board and perform the exercises,” Geet Choithani adds.

Currently, GetWetFit claims that floating fitness performed via their aqua charge boards results in burning 1.5 to 2 times more calories than traditional activities like gym workouts and cardio.

In just four months, GetWetFit is operating in five different cities – Delhi, Gurugram, Bengaluru, Goa, and Mumbai. The founders are also planning to launch their regular sessions in Hyderabad, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.

The floating fitness brand has partnered with hotels and resorts such as St. Regis Resort in Goa, Westin in Gurgaon, W resort in Goa, Crowne Plaza in Delhi, The Hilton in Mumbai,  Vivanta by Taj in Dwarka, Four Seasons in Bengaluru, Shangri-La in Delhi, Grand Hyatt in Goa, and Central Park in Gurugram. The founders have also onboarded the fitness giant CULT as their venue partner in Bengaluru.

The health and wellness startup’s price points vary according to the property. The FLAABH Fit session starts at Rs 2,100 and goes up to Rs 5,000. Regular customers can avail packages as well, which lowers their per-session cost.

Apart from partnering with hotels and resorts across India, GetWetFit conducts fitness events across India – from Ludhiana, Agra, and Indore to Udaipur and Chennai.
