Zomato’s Deepinder Goyal Reveals Why His Food App Sends Flirty Texts to Customers

Sharma jokingly questions if Goyal accidentally sends these flirty messages to clients instead of his wife. Goyal laughingly replies that his young and innovative marketing team curates all of this. He explains these notifications not only engage users but also add a fun and personalized touch to the Zomato experience.

Incidentally, Zepto was recently backlashed by netizens after the quick-commerce platform sent an unsolicited message to a Bengaluru woman addressing her as a “cutie.” 

The woman tweeted, "Fast forward many years, we are in an era of startups and POSH acts and all talks about women safety yet a well-known brand finds it appropriate to call a random stranger ‘Cutie’ with no context at all?" She pointed out that receiving messages from brands addressing “random adverbs” to any woman was unacceptable.

The promotional message from the quick-commerce platform was for a brand of banana chips.
