About the VeroTherm Formic Acid Reflow tool

The equipment has been sent to a leading global semiconductor manufacturer. It is designed for advanced semiconductor applications and supports 3D stacking of memory and logic chips, a crucial process for high-performance computing.

The VeroTherm Formic Acid Reflow tool is part of a series of equipment used in semiconductor fabrication, particularly for applications such as high bandwidth memory necessary for AI accelerator solutions.

"Today, we celebrate the shipment of India’s first-ever semiconductor equipment from #Coimbatore, thanks to Yield Engineering Systems (YES)...Tamil Nadu’s first commercial VeroTherm Formic Acid Reflow tool," the state industries minister, TRB Raja, wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

In the Tamil Nadu Budget 2025, the state announced a Rs. 500-crore Semiconductor Mission to support semiconductor manufacturing.

This follows a deal secured during Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s visit to the United States last year. Tamil Nadu has been growing its presence in the semiconductor sector with policy support and industry partnerships.

YES has over four decades of expertise in manufacturing equipment for the semiconductor industry. The Sulur facility, and its associated centers in Coimbatore and Bengaluru, support local employment and serve customers both in the country and worldwide.

“The commencement of shipments from the YES manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu marks a remarkable advancement for India's semiconductor industry. This initiative aligns perfectly with our national vision of building a self-reliant and robust semiconductor ecosystem. We are committed to providing all necessary support to foster further growth and innovation in this sector, thereby bolstering India's position in the global semiconductor market”, said S. Krishnan, Secretary, Meity (Ministry for Electronics and Information Technology.
