Recently, the United States announced a crackdown on foreign workers in the country. The Trump administration hiked the H-1B visa fee per application from $215 – $5,000 to $100,000.
According to officials in the United States, this move was targeted at prioritizing American workers and avoiding “misuse.” However, it has drawn widespread criticism, with many labelling it as discriminatory.
On September 23, Anupam Mittal, founder and CEO of People Group and Shaadi.com, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share that despite his prior belief of thinking that acquiring the H1-B visa was “success,” the real deal was actually giving it up.
“COME BACK HOME AND BUILD”
In his X post, Anupam Mittal wrote, “I thought my H1B & Green Card was success.”
He further added that in reality, giving up the visa was a real success.
In his words, “Turns out, giving it up was💪🏼.”
“If you can, come back home & build

WHAT DID NETIZENS SAY
A host of people reacted to the Shaadi.com founder's post on giving up the H-1B visa and Green Card.
One user said, “You want to build India still you applied for a Green card??”
Another questioned, “Can you build a successful business in India without bribing the system?”
A third user said, “Infrastructure , Especially urban infrastructure takes away all peace of mind. Productivity drops drastically when there's no peace of mind. Can't be in hustle mode 24*7 for life.
Yet another user criticized the medical facilities in India.
“I did bro. But the medical system and the greed / corruption / civic sense here failed me. Ek aam insaan ki kuch bhi aukaat nahi hai yahan. Bhagwaan na kare aur aapko apne bacche ko emergency room le jaana pade (ambulance se). Road pe fas jaoge. Aur agar pahuch bhi gaye to hospital ki team bas bhagwaan hi maalik hai aapka. No matter how much you want to help improve the system, the government does not wish to work with you. They are in their own comfort zone,” they wrote.
