Following Zomato’s “District” app launch last month, its arch-rival Swiggy has launched “Scenes” to book parties, events, and live music at its partner restaurants.
What is Scenes?
“Scenes” is an app through which users can book parties, events, DJ Nights, and live music at Swiggy-partnered restaurants. It is currently available in Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.
Users in Delhi-NCR can access approximately 55 events, such as New Year celebration parties, Christmas parties, live music shows, and more.
Meanwhile, Bengaluru users can choose from around 48 events. Dineout, Earlier Swiggy’s dining platform, Dineout facilitated live event ticketing through BookMyShow.
Satish Meena, an analyst at Datum Intelligence said, “Swiggy and Zomato are positioning themselves as default platforms for consumers spending on everyday conveniences.”
Currently, both companies are cultivating loyal user bases through various membership programmes. Swiggy’s loyalty offerings range from One, One Lite, and One Black, while Zomato’s membership program runs under the Gold banner.
Another market analyst stated, “These verticals are interconnected, catering to the same consumer base. Diversification allows the companies to compensate for segments nearing saturation.” [Source: Financial Express]
With One BLCK, Swiggy, however, is reaching out to exclusive users willing to pay a premium for concierge services. Currently, it has a monopoly over this as Zomato or other companies do not have any such service.
Zomato and Swiggy currently compete in food delivery, quick commerce, dining out, and now even ticketing platforms for events.
