A family from Prayagraj operating 130 boats reportedly made Rs 30 crore in profit over 45 days at Mahakumbh Mela, with each boat earning between ₹50,000 and ₹52,000 daily.
"I am telling the success story of a boatman's family. They have 130 boats. In 45 days (of Maha Kumbh), they have profited ₹30 crore... This means each boat has earned Rs 23 lakh. On a daily basis, they earned ₹50,000-52,000 from each boat," said Uttar Pradesh CM Adityanath.
The world's largest religious gathering saw over 66 crore visitors. On usual days, boat drivers earn only Rs 1,000 or 2,000. But during the Mahakumbh, the boatmen of Prayagraj daily earned lakhs of rupees.

Mahra family's fortune turns during Mahakumbh

Prayagraj boatman Pintu Mahra has 130 boats, with which they earned Rs 50,000 - 52,000 per boat every day. They secured a profit of Rs 30 crores, with each boat earning Rs 23 lakh.
Boatman Pintu and his mother Kalavati were so happy that they distributed sweets to people.
Both mother and son praised the UP government saying the number of devotees at Mahakumbh increased because of government initiatives, because of which they could earn the lumpsum amount.
The state government invested Rs 7,500 crore in the event, generating revenues for the hotel, food, and transportation sectors.
Infrastructure development was a key focus, with the construction of more than 200 widened roads, 14 flyovers, and even a modern airport terminal.
