Startup manager responds to employee’s sick leave request
An employee’s WhatsApp text with his ‘egoistic’ boss at the startup he works, has gone viral on social media. Taking to social media, the employee’s friend shared the screenshots on Reddit.
Many professionals have been triggered and shared their own ‘toxic’ interactions at their workplace.

As per the shared screenshots, the employee requested sick leave from his manager over ‘something he ate yesterday’.
However, the boss replied, “Need only today’s update; yesterday is gone.”
The boss then pointed out that the employee was using ‘bad words’ and was impolite, because of the lack of usage of the salutation ‘sir’, while texting him.
The post went viral instantly, drawing multiple reactions.
Most people criticised the manager and suggested that the employee leave the organisation. Many professionals even remarked that such issues mostly arise only with ‘Indian managers and companies’.
“Here's the ss of my friend's whatsapp chat with his manager,” the post read. “Why most of the Indian managers want to be addressed as 'Sir' and such egoistic a**holes,” the post was captioned.
The post was shared yesterday on Reddit by the handle ‘Lazy_Ad808’.

Netizens respond
“When I joined the workforce 10 years ago, my manager used to get offended if I called him sir and made it very clear to me that at work you should address everyone by name. Since when has this changed?” a user commented.
“I think he works in some lala company where managers are always high on Ego,” said another user.
“Never understood this sir/ma'am culture in some Indian companies,” remarked a third user.
“I have worked in only MNC's since the start of my career and still do, and the only managers who like being called sir and ma'am are the ones in India. I used to be on a first name basis with my Engineering Director in Korea (on his strict orders btw) and the minute I got back to India, it was the exact same as this screenshot,” added another person.
