For the unawares, Llama is a family of autoregressive language models released by Meta in February 2023.
What Ambani said?
“I have great respect for my friend Mark Zuckerberg, he has made Llama open source. Zuckerberg will go down in history for doing this,” Ambani remarked during a conversation with USA’s tech giant Nvidia founder, Jensen Huang.
At the event, Huang announced that Reliance and Nvidia are partnering to build artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure in India.
"This is an excellent opportunity for India to have a large population and a large population of computer engineers. This is such an extraordinary time. I am honoured and privileged to get to partner with you for this," Huang said praising the country and its large pool of talented techies.
He further elaborated that "India is very, very dear to the world's computer industry, central to the IT industry, at the centre and core of the IT of just about every single company in the world.”

The Nvidia AI Summit 2024
Incidentally, Ambani discussed India’s huge scope in AI during a fireside chat with Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of Nvidia. “We are building AI infrastructure for 1 GW, which can be expandable to multiple at one location. We already have green power so that we are not dependent on anybody else for power. We are building this so that we can scale this. We have to repeat a Jio for intelligence to be really affordable, available to the common people,’ he said.
Huang admitted, “India used to be a country that produced software. You exported software. In the future, India is going to export AI. I hope to partner with all of you to enable India to be at the centre of this new industrial revolution.”
