On July 8, Apple announced in a statement that its Chief Operating Officer (COO) position will be taken over by Sabih Khan.
This will happen after the current COO, Jeff Williams, steps down later this month.
“Apple today announced Jeff Williams will transition his role as chief operating officer later this month to Sabih Khan, Apple’s senior vice president of Operations, as part of a long-planned succession,” the statement read.
Before this development, Sabih Khan was working as the Senior Vice President of Operations at Apple.
MORADABAD ROOTS, GLOBAL CAREER
Hailing from Moradabad in Uttar Pradesh, Sabih Khan was born in 1966. His family moved to Singapore while he was in school, and later shifted base to the United States.
As far as his academic background is concerned, Sabih holds a dual bachelor's degree in economics and mechanical engineering from the Tufts University in Massachusetts. He later earned a master's degree in mechanical engineering from the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in New York.
Initially, he worked at GE Plastics as an applications development engineer and key account technical leader.
It was in 1995 that he secured a role in Apple's procurement team. Gradually climbing the ladder at the tech giant, he became the Senior Vice President of Operations in 2019.

According to Mint, in a welcome statement, Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, said that Sabih Khan’s efforts in leading the environmental sustainability aspect of the company have helped Apple reduce its carbon footprint by more than 60 percent.
Calling him a “brilliant strategist” who has played a key role in the tech giant’s supply chain, Cook mentioned that Khan has supervised Apple's expansion of its manufacturing operations in the United States.
“Above all, Sabih leads with his heart and his values, and I know he will make an exceptional chief operating officer,” Tim Cook added.
Even Jeff Williams, who Sabih Khan will be succeeding, believes he is “the most talented operations executive on the planet.”
He expressed faith in Sabih by stating, “I have tremendous confidence in Apple’s future under his leadership in this role.”
