Comedian Kunal Kamra took a dig at Zomato after the company's CEO, Deepinder Goyal, shared the news of securing a World Record.

Back in June last year, the online food delivery company achieved a Guinness World Record (GWR) by training over 4,000 delivery executives to provide medical assistance during roadside emergencies.

Kamra immediately criticised the company and questioned the “minimum wage” and “social security” of the delivery partners.

Zomato urges customers to rate delivery agents

Zomato has urged its customers to rate the delivery executives once they receive the food.

Though the feature is available on the platform, most users ignore it.

Hinting at those customers, Zomato wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Some people skip giving ratings to delivery partners, the same people get upset when their work does not get recognition."

In response to the post, the well-known comedian, known for sparking controversies with his bold remarks, raised questions over the alleged low wage of the delivery partners.

“Some people skip giving minimum wage & social security, the same people get upset when they are sent to prison," Kamra wrote on X.

While some X users agreed with Kamra, many backed Zomato.

One user commented, “Underpay is offensive. No doubt. But are these gig workers bonded labour? Aren’t they getting paid more than what they would find elsewhere? The world isn’t just. Accept it."

Another remarked, “Kunal Kamra can hire people and not just give minimum wage but 3x of it. After all, the minimum is minimum for a reason and is not maximum. Will he do it or just keep tweeting against those providing work and jobs to others?"

An individual said, “At least, a job and salary are provided to jobless people. Cribbing is easy, tell me how many you have employed yet. Leading a comfortable life and throwing shit on everyone looks like your job."

Another person supported Kamra saying, “These brands charge extra from customers in the name of platform fees and other charges, but I wonder how much of it is utilised to give health insurance and incentives to the gig workers."
