Shaadi.com CEO Anupam Mittal candidly shared some of the lessons he learned from his father on the eve of Father’s Day.
He captioned on LinkedIn: “Not all fathers wear capes. Some wear silence.”
Anupam Mittal shares life lessons he learned from his father
Mittal revealed how his father was far from the modern-day cool Dads who keep vision boards, journals daily, meditate and often talk about “work-life balance”.
Instead, the billionaire remembers waking up every morning to his father’s songs and looking at his “signature” doorbell at night.
“Sometimes he’d walk in bruised, sometimes proud, but always kind,” shared Mittal.
And then he disclosed some of the lessons he learned from his father:
- Build your niche and dominate it
- Always be on top of your numbers
- Chase excellence, that’s where compounding hides
- Play the long game, even when the world chases shortcuts
“And this one…” wrote the Shark Tank judge. “Jo sach hai, woh dikhta hai…kehna nahi padta.”
Mittal admitted on LinkedIn that as a young boy, he thought he was nothing like his father.
“But the older I get, I realise, I am becoming him,” he said. “Just with a different canvas.”
Anupam Mittal hopes to pass on the wisdom to daughter
Acknowledging that he is still nowhere close to his wisdom, Mittal expressed that he hopes to pass on “some bit” of what he learned to his daughter, Alyssa.
“What I do carry is his 'do first, talk later' mindset, and hopefully, his integrity,” he said.
Before ending the post, Anupam Mittal lauded all “the builders before 'building' was a thing” and “the fathers who quietly built lives so we could build dreams.”
Incidentally, in a recent post on LinkedIn, the Shadi.com CEO shared some wealth tips for his followers.
He said that you become successful when you “ignore" the rulebook.
“The rules are useful,” he admitted. "But at some point, you’ve got to know when to bend them.”
By playing it safe, you “rarely make history”, advised Anupam Mittal.
