Knot.dating, an Indian matrimony app said that women are sending more requests and are also getting rejected more.
The conventional gender buckets on Indian matrimonial websites and applications are in the ratio of 70% women and 30% men.
Basically, women are in greater numbers, with more power to approve or reject matches. Either way, they are rarely the ones initiating.
But a new Indian matrimony app has entered the matchmaking industry and is effectively bringing more than just a ripple.
Knot.dating, founded by Jasveer Singh and Abhishek Asthana, is a new artificial intelligence-powered matrimonial app that only registers men who are earning Rs 50 lakh or above in a year. For women, however, there is no salary bracket.
KNOT DATING’S GENDER RATIO
In a recent X (formerly Twitter) post, Jasveer Singh noted that their app has reversed the conventional data of 70% men and 30% women seen on most matrimonial websites.
Sharing that Knot.dating defies “Internet logic,” the co-founder wrote, “Guess what, on Knot dating it’s almost reversed: 68% women, 32% men!”
“More surprising:
Women are sending more requests.
Women are also getting rejected,” he added.
WHAT DID NETIZENS SAY
Even though Jasveer Singh concluded his post by stating that the team did not “engineer” this outcome, netizens had a different take.
One social media user commented, “It’s basically women looking for rich men 😅
With no criteria for women .. there’s bound to be more of them … you did enable it.”
Another said, “Yeah right. You just helped all the men in this world prove that women are only after their money.
Thanks for that though. This revelation is much needed for most men, as it is only after this realization that they learn the basic filtration criteria.”
“Basically made an app for all the world’s gold digger,” yet another said.
“So this algorithm proved men r hardworking earners and women are good diggers,” a fifth user said.
AI-POWERED MATCHMAKING
Startup Pedia had earlier reported that Knot.dating does not take the “form-filling” or “swipe right” approach to matchmaking.
Instead, it focuses on a conversational AI that blends with human-assisted matchmaking and suggests matches with high compatibility.
Once a user speaks to the system for a few minutes, the AI catches on to their personality, communication patterns, and emotional intelligence. With these results, it shows matching individuals with similar or compatible traits.
