Billionaire Harsh Goenka took to his official X account on Tuesday entering the ongoing social media spat between Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal and popular comedian Kunal Kamra.
Tagging Aggarwal, the RPG Group chairman humorously remarked, "If I have to travel close distances, I mean from one 'kamra' to another, I use my Ola," while sharing a picture of himself on an Ola electric vehicle.
What actually happened?
The verbal war between the comedian and Ola Founder started when the former tweeted about the ongoing servicing issues of Ola Electric's S1 series of EV scooters.
Sharing an image of an Ola dealership crowded with Ola scooters gathering dust waiting to be serviced, Kamra remarked: “Do indian consumers have a voice? Do they deserve this? Two wheelers are many daily wage workers lifeline…@nitin_gadkari is this how Indians will get to using EV’s? @jagograhakjago any word? Anyone who has an issue with OLA electric leave your story below tagging all…”
At this, Aggarwal was furious and alleged the post was a paid one to defame his company. In the tweet exchange that happened the Indian businessman told the comedian had a ‘failed career’ and also advised him to find ‘real work’ and refrain from doing ‘armchair criticism’.
In a series of online insults that followed, Aggarwal asked, “Chot lagi? Dard hua? Aaja service center. Bahut kaam hai. I will pay better than your flop shows pay you. Show your audience how much you truly care and whether you’re only gas and BS.”
The fight continues…
Kamra replied, “So you can’t offer a 100 percent refund to people who have purchased your OLA in the last 4 months who are genuine customers…
But you want to pay me who’s not a customer.”
In a series of tweets, the comedian told the Ola Founder, “Don’t run away, I can help you by compiling the list of genuine customers & making sure their refund is processed. Their delight will be enough to pay me…
I’ll give an email ID in my next tweet once you stop trying to hire me & focus on your actual customers.”
The irritated businessman replied, “We have enough programs for our customers if they face service delays. If you were a genuine one, you would have known.
Again, don’t try and back out of this. Come and do some real work rather than armchair criticism.”
Referring to the Ola CEO as 'OLAN MUSK', the comedian has answered, “Paid tweet, failed comedy career & Sit quietly. Indian Businessman at their humble best…If you can prove I am paid for the tweet this or anything else I must’ve said against private companies, I’ll delete all social media & sit quietly forever.”
Others get involved in the argument
Netizens also entered this war of words between the famous entrepreneur and well-loved comedian. Most supported Kamra and urged the Ola Founder to take appropriate measures to solve his customers’ problems rather than argue arrogantly.
The newest entrant in this ongoing debate is celebrated businessman Harsh Goenka. His remarks would either fuel the battle or end it in a lighthearted tone. That could be seen shortly but for now, Ola Electric saw its stock drop to about Rs 90 a piece on Monday morning as its Founder got involved in an ugly online debate.
"I use my Ola to travel from one 'kamra' to another," says Harsh Goenka, commenting on the Kunal Kamra and Bhavish Aggarwal feud.
Amid the ongoing online battle between Ola Founder Bhavish Aggarwal and renowned comedian Kunal Kamra, industrialist Harsh Goenka has piped in to add to the ongoing debate.
