Roshni Nadar Malhotra, chairperson of HCL Technologies and the only child of billionaire businessman Shiv Nadar, has made history by becoming the first Indian woman to rank among the top 10 richest individuals in the world.

The HCL boss ranks third, following Mukesh Ambani, the richest Indian, and Gautam Adani in second place. According to the Hurun Global Rich List 2025, Roshni is also the fifth richest woman in the world, with a net worth of ₹3.5 lakh crore.
75-year-old Alice Walton of Walmart is the wealthiest woman in the world, with a net worth of $102 billion.
The HCL heiress's rise in the rankings followed a 47 per cent stake transfer from her father, Shiv Nadar, the founder of HCL Technologies and the third richest Indian.
This also placed her in control of Vama Sundari Investments (Vama Delhi) and HCL Corp, the promoter entities of HCL Technologies.
With the stake transfer, Roshni Nadar Malhotra assumed complete authority of the $12 billion technology company, taking charge of all strategic decisions.

Who is Roshni Nadar Malhotra?
A graduate of Northwestern University, she pursued her MBA at the Kellogg School of Management, receiving the Schaffner Award in 2023 for her contributions to philanthropy.
Roshni Nadar Malhotra also supports the Shiv Nadar Foundation, a non-profit organisation that manages more than $1.2 billion in leadership and education programmes. Through VidyaGyan, a leadership academy in Uttar Pradesh, she backs talented students from low-income backgrounds.
A global board member of The Nature Conservancy, she serves on the Dean’s Advisory Council at the MIT School of Engineering. The lady entrepreneur has been consistently featured among Forbes’ Top 100 Most Powerful Women since 2017 and, in 2024, was awarded France’s Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur.
