FASTag annual pass goes LIVE today
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is rolling out the FASTag Annual Pass today, on 15 August 2025, for private car owners to avoid multiple toll payments.
Eligibility for the pass
Priced at Rs. 3,000, the FASTag pass allows up to 200 toll-free trips on National Highway and National Expressway toll plazas, offering significant savings for frequent travellers.
The pass offers 200 toll-free trips or is valid for one year from activation—whichever comes first.
Applicable only to private cars, jeeps, and vans, the Annual Pass removes the hassle of topping up balances for frequent travellers while ensuring smooth and faster travel.
All that you need to know about FASTag Annual Pass
Here’s a complete guide on FASTag Annual Pass activation, usage, benefits, and required documents:
Activating your FASTag annual pass
Step 1:Download the Rajmarg Yatra app or visit the NHAI website
The annual pass can be activated only via the Rajmarg Yatra mobile application (available on Android and iOS) or the official NHAI website.
Step 2: Log in and verify eligibility
Users have to log in using their mobile number or vehicle registration number (VRN). You have to check that your FASTag is active, correctly affixed to the vehicle, linked to a valid VRN, and not blacklisted.
If the FASTag is registered only with a chassis number, you have to update it with the VRN before proceeding. Also, make sure that your vehicle is eligible for the annual pass, as only private/non-commercial vehicles qualify.
Step 3: Fill in vehicle and FASTag details
You have to provide your vehicle information and existing FASTag ID. Upload necessary documents if prompted, including the RC, owner’s ID and address proof, and a passport-size photograph.
Double-check the details to avoid delays in verification, as any mismatch can lead to rejection or longer processing times.
Step 4:Make payment
The annual pass fee for 2025–26 is Rs 3,000, which you can pay using UPI, debit/credit card, or net banking via the app or website.
You have to keep the payment confirmation or receipt safely, as it may be needed for reference in case of activation issues.
Step 5: Activation confirmation
After payment and verification, the annual pass is activated on your existing FASTag, usually within two hours, though it may take up to 24 hours in some cases. An SMS confirmation will be sent upon successful activation.
A user can check the status within the app or the NHAI website dashboard to ensure the pass is active before using it at toll plazas.
Benefits of the FASTag annual pass
Up to 200 toll plaza trips on designated National Highways and Expressways, offering significant convenience for frequent travellers.
Validity of 1 year from activation or until 200 trips, whichever occurs first, ensuring predictable usage without worrying about balance depletion.
Faster passage at toll plazas, minimising waiting time and making long highway journeys more efficient.
Simplified toll management, as you no longer need to maintain wallet balances or perform multiple transactions.
Cost-effective for regular highway commuters, reducing transaction fees compared to multiple individual FASTag payments.
Usage and limitations of the FASTag annual pass
Only one annual pass per vehicle (private/non-commercial). Multiple passes on the same vehicle are not allowed.
Not valid for commercial or yellow-board vehicles, including taxis, buses, or transport vehicles.
Usable only at National Highway and National Expressway toll plazas, not on state highways, city roads, or parking lots.
No auto-renewal; vehicle owners must reapply after expiry to continue enjoying the benefits.
Exceeding the 200-trip limit will automatically revert the FASTag to regular payment mode, ensuring no disruption in toll payment.
To activate the annual pass, you need the following documents
Registration Certificate (RC) of the vehicle.
Passport-size photograph of the vehicle owner.
KYC documents as per the vehicle owner’s category.
ID proof and address proof.
Notably, state highways, roads managed by local authorities, or parking facilities will not accept the FASTag annual pass, and users will be required to pay regular user fees as applied.
