The Bhartiya Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has made quarter profits consistently for the first time in 17 years, announced Jyotidardiya Scindia, Union Minister for Communications.
BSNL reports back-to-back profits after years of struggle
The government telecom company posted a net profit of Rs 280 crores in the January-March quarter of the financial year 2024-25.
"BSNL delivers first back-to-back Quarter profits in 17 years! Continuing on its profitable path, BSNL has posted a strong net profit of ₹280 crores in Jan-March quarter of FY 25, marking back-to-back profitable quarters after ₹261 crores in FY25 Q3," the minister said.
Praising the Prime Minister, Scindia said the consistent turnaround of BSNL reflects the "focused and reform-driven leadership" of PM Modi.
Speaking to the media, the Minister added, "BSNL has posted, for the first time in 17 years, back-to-back quarterly profits, net profits, not operating profit alone, not EBITDA, positive marginal loan, but net profit on a quarterly basis for the second time running after 2007..."
He further said that BSNL has reduced its annual loss by 58% to Rs 2,247 crore from Rs 5,370 crore the previous year. "This remarkable transformation, Scindia noted, is a direct result of the visionary and reform-driven leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi," an official release said.
"This marks a sustainable and consistent profitable growth for BSNL, following the net profit it registered in Q3 FY2025—an announcement that was also made by Scindia earlier this year, highlighting the continued trajectory of recovery and operational efficiency under his leadership," it added.
