In his radio address 'Mann Ki Baat' on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the Indian youth for adopting new technologies, such as AI.
"Be it the space sector or AI, the ever-increasing participation of our youth is begetting a new revolution. The people of India are second to none in adopting and trying new technologies," PM Modi said.
Incidentally, the Prime Minister co-chaired the Paris AI Action Summit earlier this month along with the President of France, H.E. Mr. Emmanuel Macron in Paris.
The week-long summit, held during the Science Days on February 6-7, followed by the Cultural Weekend on February 8-9, culminating in a High-Level Segment attended by global leaders, policymakers, and industry experts.
PM Modi lauds ISRO
In his 'Mann Ki Baat', PM Modi also praised India’s space research. He mentioned the launch of about 460 satellites over the decade, including satellites of many other countries by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
"Last month, the country witnessed the launch of Isro’s 100th rocket. This is not just a number; it reflects our resolve to touch new heights in space science daily. Our space journey had commenced rather modestly," the prime minister said.
Addressing India’s growing obesity issue, Modi suggested a few changes in dietary habits could solve the problem.
PM Modi honours Women's Day
The Prime Minister then announced that he would hand over his social media accounts to women honouring the Women's Day celebrations next month.
"...this time, on Women's Day, I am going to embark upon an initiative for a day which will be dedicated to our Nari-Shakti. On this special occasion, I am going to hand over my social media accounts, like X and Instagram, to some inspiring ladies of the country. Women who have achieved success in myriad fields, who have innovated and created a unique identity for themselves in various fields. On 8 March, they will share their work and experiences with our countrymen," he said.
A note on Wildlife protection
He ended the note by mentioning the efforts of local communities to protect lions and tigers in India.
He praised the “tribal brothers and sisters” for active participation in wildlife protection which has led to an increase in the population of tigers, leopards, Asiatic lions, rhinos and barasingha in the last few years.
