In 2019, a young man from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, Abhiram Chava, started Magnum Wings. It is an aerospace company that claims to be “Revolutionizing Aerial mobility with electric Vertical Take-Off and Landing (eVTOL) technology.”
Now, the company has unveiled V2, a two-seater air taxi that can achieve a top speed of 100 kmph in the air.
According to ETV Bharat, the model has undergone successful experimentation.
With a major focus on local production, the project by Magnum Wings has manufactured all equipment, except the motor, in Andhra Pradesh.
A flying taxi in itself, the V2 air taxi model by Magnum Wings has certain key specifications:
With V2, founder Chava Abhiram envisions offering the same affordability that regular cab travel comes with.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, he said, “These vehicles are powered by batteries, and their maintenance costs remain low due to the shorter distances travelled through the air.”
While the V2 has seen successful experimentation, Abhiram Chava and Magnum Wings are in the process of designing a three-seater air taxi called X-4.
This model will be used for long-distance travel.
The X-4 covers up to 300 kilometres at an altitude of 20,000 feet. It offers a maximum speed of 300 kmph. The pricing for this model has been set at Rs 8 crore.
This three-seater model will undergo testing in the next few months.

Hailing from Andhra Pradesh and a native of Guntur, Abhiram Chava holds an MBA in Robotics Engineering from the United States.
Chava recognised India’s urban congestion problem due to traffic and decided to innovate air taxis to solve it.
After a period of research on air taxi technology, he founded Magnum Wings in 2019 that currently operates from the outskirts of Guntur.
Initially, Chava and his team designed a vehicle that could be controlled without a pilot.
But the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) regulations do not allow pilotless vehicles.
Then Magnum Wings started the journey to develop air taxis with two and three seats, including one for the pilot.
The V2 and X-4 are efforts in the same direction.
