Amazon India
An employee from Amazon India has shared a shocking account of mass layoffs inside the company, claiming that almost 75% of their team has been fired.
The post, shared on Reddit, shows how the office atmosphere has changed completely. People were called into cabins for termination meetings, some were crying at their desks, and many went home early just to “buy beer and try to calm down.”
Amazon India layoffs 2025: Employee claims 75% of team fired
The viral post was shared by a user who said they work in a corporate team at Amazon India. Their message reads like a raw note from someone who has seen too much in a few days. Here is the full transcript shared by the employee:
“75% of my team is gone. Although I'm in the remaining 25%, I don't feel motivated to work anymore. They are firing people in cabins. People are crying in the office,”the post said.
The post further added,“Yesterday I went to the office, it was very bad. I went straight to the liquor shop, bought 3–4 bottles of beer. I was awake the whole night and I will take sick leave today. It was pip-azon before, now it is something worse.”
The term “pip-azon” is used by employees to describe periods when Amazon puts many workers under Performance Improvement Plans (PIP).
These plans are often seen as a warning stage before being let go. The employee suggests the current wave of cuts feels even harsher than those times.
According to reports, Amazon India could cut between 800 and 1,000 corporate roles as part of global layoffs. The post claims that people were called one by one into cabins and informed that their roles were no longer required.
Why Amazon India layoffs are causing fear among tech workers
The Reddit post has sparked worry among Indian tech workers, many of whom say they now fear similar cuts.
One user commented, “Why are companies firing people when profits are high?” Another added that growing use of automation and AI has left many employees feeling unsafe in their jobs.
Amazon has not yet commented on the claims, but the post shows the emotional and mental strain layoffs can cause. For many, it is a reminder that job security in the tech world is no longer something they can count on.
