Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani announced on Tuesday that the company plans to invest over Rs 50,000 crore in Assam over the next five years.

Speaking at the Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit 2025 in Guwahati, the Reliance boss shared his company’s long-term commitment to Assam’s development in the technology and digital sectors.

Mukesh Ambani's vision of turning the "Tea paradise" into a "Technology paradise"

“In the coming years, Reliance will more than quadruple its investment in Assam to over Rs 50,000 crore,” Mukesh Ambani said.

He shared that Reliance has already invested more than Rs 12,000 crore in the state. The Reliance Industries Chairman also pointed at Jio’s significant role in modernizing Assam's telecom infrastructure, making it “not only 2G-mukt but 5G-yukt” (free from 2G and empowered with 5G).

Ambani expressed his gratitude to the people of Assam for welcoming Jio warmly and remarked the "tea paradise" will soon turn into a "technology paradise."

Praising the Prime Minister’s leadership, Ambani remarked that the summit’s theme, "Advantage Assam," reflects the transformation the state has gone through under Modi’s governance.

Mukesh Ambani enumerated Assam’s growth under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. “First, you have brought Assam and the entire northeast from the periphery to the centre of India’s development map. You have personally visited the northeast more than 70 times, more than any other prime minister in the past,” said Ambani.

The industrialist continued, “Second, you’ve given Assam an inspiring new mantra: ‘Act East, Act Fast, Act First.’ Assam has the potential to develop so rapidly that Southeast and East Asia will begin looking towards it as a hub for growth opportunities.”

Thirdly, Ambani said the “unprecedented connectivity revolution” in Assam and the Northeast, has expanded beyond physical and digital infrastructure including developmental and emotional connectivity with the rest of India.

The fourth and most significant advantage, the Reliance Chairman added, is prioritizing technology as a key driver of development.

“AI, which stands for Artificial Intelligence, will also soon mean Assam Intelligence,” Ambani said. Assam’s tech-savvy youth will give a new meaning to AI in the coming decades,” he added.

The Advantage Assam 2.0 summit, unveiled by PM Modi was the state’s largest investment and infrastructure initiative participated by national and international leaders, ambassadors, and industry stalwarts.
