A 30-year-old software engineer from Bengaluru jumped from the 12th-floor corridor of his apartment complex on March 4.
According to police reports, health issues coupled with loss at his startup business triggered him to take his own life.

Who was the unfortunate techie?
Mayank Rajani, originally from Lucknow moved to Bengaluru in 2018.
The deceased’s father, Manohar Lal filed a complaint with the Parappana Agrahara police. According to his statement, his son worked for a software company near his residence.
Mayank had recently undergone spinal cord surgery and was under medication for pain. He and his software engineer girlfriend were living together which both families were aware of.
The father admitted that his son occasionally experienced mental distress. Police informed Mayank’s family about the incident early in the morning after he jumped from his apartment around 6 a.m.
His girlfriend was asleep in the bedroom when the unfortunate incident happened.
The apartment’s security guard rushed to the scene after hearing a loud sound and found Mayank’s body lying in a pool of blood.
His family arrived in Bengaluru by the evening and filed a complaint disclosing that they did not suspect foul play in his death.
Police investigation revealed Mayank had invested his savings and even borrowed funds from his family for his startup, which suffered losses.
"Family members say he ended his life over setbacks he faced on his health and business fronts. We have taken up the case of unnatural death and are investigating," a senior police officer said.
The tragic incident again sparked a debate on work-life balance and the immense workload shouldered on young professionals making them incapable of dealing with life.
