Elon Musk wants to restrain Tesla Power from using its trademark.

Musk's Tesla has filed a lawsuit in the Delhi High Court against Gurgaon-based Tesla Power.

It's about trademark infringement, 'Tesla'.

Tesla Inc.'s senior counsel, Chander Lall submitted that complaints against Tesla Power batteries were directed to the US-based firm, as consumers assumed they were associated with Tesla Inc.

What does the court say?

The High Court has restrained Tesla Power from publishing promotional ads featuring EV products with a similar Tesla trademark till May 22.

Tesla Power argued that it is not manufacturing EV batteries but selling lead-acid batteries used in conventional vehicles and inverters.

Tesla Power India's Chairman, Kavinder Khurana, clarified in court that they will not manufacture or market their EVs under the Tesla brand. Instead, they have a strategic partnership with a US firm and e-Ashwa to sell branded products. Tesla Power has been in business since 2020 and has 1 million customers in India.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk considered a $30 billion investment in India over the next five years, including a manufacturing plant and battery ecosystem, but postponed his visit to India due to "prior commitments."
