Better Nutrition, India’s first biofortified food brand, has launched its advanced XRF Analyzer. The startup claims to be the only private organisation in the country, and among a handful globally, to deploy advanced X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) technology for real-time nutrient and heavy-metal profiling across every batch of food it produces.

What is the advanced XRF Analyzer?

The advanced XRF Analyzer can capture a complete nutrient scorecard within just 100 seconds, measuring over 20+ essential nutrients, including iron, zinc, calcium, magnesium, manganese, and boron, while simultaneously screening for 10+ harmful heavy metals, such as lead, cadmium, and mercury.

Despite “healthy” labels, most staples today have up to 70% lower nutrient density compared to a few decades ago.

That means our rotis, rice, and dal simply don’t provide us with the iron, zinc, calcium, or protein we need.

About Better Nutrition

The Lucknow-based innovative health and wellness startup was founded in 2023 by Prateek Rastogi and Aishwarya Bhatnagar to introduce India’s first nutrient-verified staples brand — everyday atta, rice, millets, and dals that naturally deliver 2X more essential nutrients, tested and validated scientifically in every batch.

The food brand has collaborated with over 20,000 farmers and is growing a network of rural micro-entrepreneurs. The startup has unveiled India’s first complete soil-to-food nutrient verification model, so that nutrition is not merely claimed, but grown, measured, and proven.

Unlike standard packaged foods that rely on broad claims such as “source of iron” or “rich in nutrients,” the Lucknow-based food brand can prove the nutrient density of every batch before it reaches the customer.

With this innovation, the food startup claims to directly address India’s “hidden hunger” challenge and nutrient deficiencies that persist despite adequate food availability.

“Almost every batch of food that we make is tested using this advanced technology, and in under 100 seconds, we can capture a perfect nutrient scorecard,” informed co-founder Prateek Rastogi.

“We precisely ascertain levels of zinc, iron, calcium, manganese, boron, and also ensure harmful heavy metals like mercury, cadmium, and lead are absent. In India, we are the only private organisation to have this capability today,” he added.

The Lucknow-based wellness startup has secured investment from prominent figures like PV Sindhu, Masterchef Pankaj Bhadouria, and featured on platforms such as Shark Tank India Season 4.

“We’ve built India’s first soil-to-food nutrient system that can both increase and validate nutrients inside everyday staples. This is a new, science-backed standard for everyday food in India,” said co-founder Aishwarya Bhatnagar.
