Netizens respond

“Elon’s intergalactic mission!” a user commented.

Another said, “so we got wifi on mars before gta6”

A third user remarked, “Hasn’t really linked any stars yet though.”

“Coordination amongst satellites must be a nightmare, but a fun engineering problem,” said another.

“As much as I love history, living in the future is pretty awesome!” wrote a user.

A person commented, “Still remember in Burning Man 2025 people use Starlink under “Fuck Elon” sign. They hate you but they have to use your services.”

“Amazing to think about how you started off with Zip2 and you were helping people find places online to now Starlink is connecting the entire planet to the internet,” shared a user.

Is Starlink facing a threat from Russia?

According to a recent report by Financial Express, Russia may be building a new anti-satellite weapon that uses destructive orbiting clouds of shrapnel to target Starlink.

Elon Musk’s company has emerged as a key military ally for war-torn Ukraine, providing critical support for troops and sustaining government functions, hospitals, when Russian strikes damaged infrastructure.

According to intelligence findings seen by The Associated Press, the “zone-effect” weapon would seek to flood Starlink orbits with hundreds of thousands of high-density pellets.

The publication also quoted analysts (who have not seen the findings) who said that such a weapon would likely cause ‘uncontrollable chaos’ in space.

However, the damage cannot be isolated in case of such an attack, potentially affecting Russia and its ally China, which rely on thousands of orbiting satellites for communications, defence and other vital needs.
