On National Startup Day, boAt co-founder Aman Gupta kept it real for India’s startup crowd, talking hustle, hard work, and why being an entrepreneur isn’t about jumping on a trend, but about doing something worth doing.

Gupta lauded how far India’s startup scene has come, saying this is a new India where founders now share the stage with the Prime Minister and top ministers.

“It’s a matter of national pride,” he said, pointing out that founders hustle, pitch, fail and rise again every single day.

But he didn’t sugarcoat it. One of his key pieces of advice?

“Don’t start a startup just for the sake of it.”

According to Aman Gupta, if you have a solid idea, then you should execute it well. And if you do not have one, he said, then take someone else’s idea and execute that exceptionally well.

The entrepreneur said that a big deal in hustle culture is not about being the first, it’s about being the best at making it work.

Gupta used his own industry as an example, noting that some of the biggest names in Indian business weren’t first in the space, but their success came from execution, grind and learning from mistakes.

His message wasn’t just about hard work, though. It was about pride, resilience, and ambition.

The boAt co-founder urged founders to think beyond quick wins and build stuff that matters.

As he put it, startups are more than apps and products, but stories of people who keep going, even when the odds aren’t in their favour.

In the end, Gupta reminded everyone that entrepreneurship is a mix of passion, patience and a willingness to fail and come back stronger.

He stressed that India’s next generation is being built on that kind of hustle.
