Minister Nitin Gadkari reviews work on Vadodara–Mumbai Expressway
Minister Nitin Gadkari inspected Package 6 and Package 7 of the Greenfield Vadodara–Mumbai Expressway, calling for faster progress without compromising quality.
The Minister was accompanied by senior officials from MoRTH and NHAI during the site visit. He said the project will reduce travel time, improve road links to major industrial areas, and support economic growth in both states.

During the review, the Minister said the expressway“will significantly reduce travel time, strengthen connectivity to major industrial hubs and PM Gati Shakti nodes, and accelerate economic growth across Gujarat and Maharashtra.”
Officials noted that both packages are important for smooth movement between Vadodara, Valsad and Mumbai. Once complete, the expressway will ease pressure on existing highways that often remain crowded.
The Minister said the government wants this stretch built with strong durability and user-friendly road design so that travellers and transporters benefit for years to come.

Minister Nitin Gadkari repeated that quality must be maintained at all stages of construction. He instructed project teams to focus on strong safety measures, proper engineering checks and regular site inspections. He also insisted that workers follow safety rules on every stretch of the project.
The Minister stated that contractors must “ensure strict adherence to quality standards, timely completion, and enhanced safety measures at all construction sites.”
He also warned that action will be taken if any part of the work falls short of required standards. The Minister added that the government will keep a close watch on progress to make sure the expressway is completed on time and built to high standards.
